I have been watching the Jeep.ca site for a few days now. Yesterday Gecko showed up but it says image coming soon when you build one. I am hoping this is a sign it will be available for order soon

Gecko

Today I followed up on yesterday's call to Jeep Customer Service. The girl provided information that back's up Pat's information on the release date of Gecko. She refuted the guy's information of yesterday by saying Gecko will be available for order in early February 2012 (as Pat has told us). For what it's worth, I asked if her information showed Gecko as a pearl color but she said it doesn't. No news on any other colors in the pipeline.

The Chrysler Fleet Guide does not show it as pearl coat either.

I have been stalking this site for a while for any news on Gecko and finally to join & chime in. I see that Gecko is listed as pearlcoat on the Canadian website. Also to note, if you belong to Costco, gecko is listed as an option in their auto program. Does anybody know if you can tour their Toledo plant once production starts to see what the color will look like as it comes off the line?!? I want to order one ASAP, but the color variances in photos scare me a bit.

This is the Kawasaki green I am familiar with, if Gecko is the same that thing will be bright. I had a 1990 ZX-7 identical to this, what a fun bike that was.

It refers to the finish style - some are metallic coat (metallic flakes that shine in bright light), some are flat (straight clearcoat), some have pearl coat (that pearly "rainbowy" look).

Yes, I said rainbowy.

Anyone with Cosmic in there name can certainly say rainbowy. The Charger a few years back had a lime like green that was flat and less shiny than I suspect a pearlcoat to be.

I have the brochure, too, and unfortunately you can not rely on these pictures. The one showing the Gecko is exactly the same picture that was showing a different colour in the previous year's brochure (I think it was either detonator or blue). The colours are just photoshop-ed in over the same picture by the marketing department. I am also looking at ordering the Gecko, but would like to see it in person first.

Gecko is an option on the Jeep.ca site now. If it is available as an option on there then it would make sense it is available for order now
