I have a '12 2-door Sahara.
I chose the 130 and I sort of wish I would have gone with the 430 or 730 because I get annoyed by the 130s poor ability to display song info from the sat radio or ipod. Is that alone worth the price difference? No, but it's really the only thing I haven't been happy with.

Just get a better aftermarket unit. They are cheaper and better then stock anyways not to mention you don't have to stop for half the stuff to work

This is a terrific video. I never really understood how a differential worked until i watched this. Do yourself a favor and check this video out. It really simplifies something that seems, on its surface, very complex.

I wonder if there is a video similiar to this that explains how limited slip works. I assume that is very complex.

All wranglers have a BLD -Break Lock Differential system standard . It works by the computer seeing that one tire is slipping and so the other side is getting no power. If the wheel is spinning it applies some break to that spinning wheel transferring a little power to the other side. Its not really super elegant but gets the job done if you stay on the gas.

i had a 98 TJ i traded for a 2007 Sahara. while i liked it, i was dissappointed in things like power and torque. it was love at first sight and i bought it off the showroom floor with a 2" lift and 32 in nitto tires. i was in love with the looks, but not the performance. I traded it for a 2012 Rubicon with just about everythig i wanted except a remote starter and side air bags.

I have come to really like features of the serious nav-traffic updates. it has saved my a$$ a few times on the washington d.c. beltway and gotten me home rather than sitting in traffic. I like garmen functions better overall *speed and limit displays, trip particulars like speed, distance, average speed, total times..and such) but the sirius group is good with the additional features.

i like the u-connect but check your phone....it might not work with it.

i like the climate control ......set it and go. i have everything on auto so i set the temp i want and pretty much leave it alone.

Love the 3.6/4.10's six speed giving much more torque and power than the 2007 3.8 six speed.

i don't use the soft top nor take of the pieces of the hard top so thats a mute point.

Leather is ok, i like it better than the fabric and i'd do it again or i might buy after market.

I'd do it again i a heartbeat! I love the Rubi, in fact i've hardly ridden my motorcycle; opting for the ride in the Rubi instead

I just got a 2012 Sport Unlimited.

I don't have any regrets at all.

I traded in a 2010 2dr Rubicon.

I love the 4 doors, the new interior, the much better engine, and the 6 speed.

My Rubicon was an automatic with 4.10s. My new one is a six speed manual with 3.73s... I would not go with the 3.21s unless you don't have any hills where you live.

I've read a few post where people say that they test drove a 2011 and a 2012 and they say that there's not enough improvement in the engine for the price difference... I say they are totally out of place to be saying that from a test drive. They have no right to be telling others how it is from just a few test drives... I drove a 2dr with a 3.8 for a year and now I'm driving a heavier 4dr with the 3.6 and there's no comparison... I absolutely love the 3.6, way more power, plus better mpg consistently.

The 4dr has a smoother ride, and if you have a little one on the way then you def want to get one with doors straight to the back seat... It would be a nightmare to try to get a rear facing car seat in the back seat of a 2dr.

I didn't get premium sound, I had it in my 2010 and I liked it, it's pretty good. On my new one I'm putting in a pretty sweet aftermarket setup.

I just got my tube steps yesterday, I like the looks of the mopar tube steps better then the factory steps that come on the Sahara.

I felt like I could do enough with the money saved to make it worth while to get a Sport instead of a sahara. Plus I didn't want the 18in rims -the tires cost a ton, and there aren't many 18in tires worthy of being put on a wrangler.

I like the 130 stereo because I like to be able to push buttons and turn knobs... I'm only 22 so I'm not some old guy that doesn't like tec. I just like to be able to easily adjust sound etc.. while driving. Mom has a 2011 Explorer and the touch screen is hard to navigate, especially while driving.

From what I understand of your situation from your original question I'd say you definatly NEED a four door if you get a wrangler, and if you buy new, go with a 2012, it has the new engine, you will not be disappointed, If you get a 2011 I can say that you'll def end up dissatisfied with the lack of power and torque, there are very few people that aren't dissatisfied with the 3.8L performance.

I got a 2011 Sahara, it has several problems that cant be fixed so I am replacing with a Rubicon. Probably would have gotten another Sahara but the more I read the forums the more I wanted a Rubicon.

You went from a auto to a 6 speed.

Most head to head comparisons I read about (like you mentioned) are the same transmission ?

Wish I wouldnt have got the Nav/DVD upgrade. Kinda makes me worry about it when I leave it parked with no top or doors somewere besides my house.

Only got the 730N because it was already installed on the vehicle. I like the 730 and find it has some neat features, but for the price I could have lived without it. The one option I regret not getting is the dual top. I love my hard top for the winter months, but come spring a soft top will have to be ordered. Overall, I love my Rubi and am glad the wife talked me into getting it.

The one option I would recommend for any Jeep buyer who plans to take his/her Jeep off the black top is the limited slip diff or a locker. I had a CJ without either option and ended up walking home a few times. No fun there.

Trak-Lok is what they call the Jeep LSD -Limited Slip Differential.
It is an upgrade for Sports and Sahara for about $250. ( Rubi's don't have the option as far a I know. It probably just cannot fit/work with the lockers) You won't notice the LSD is there if you have it under normal conditions. It works with clutch type of system which is prone to wearing out at around 50,000 miles depending on use. After that time you can have the disk replaced. Basically the same kind of concept as replacing break pads. It also requires a bit more maintenance in the way of having to add special oil to the differential (that big ass thing in the middle of your axles). It doesn't work at all if the wheel spinning is off the ground. It is really good for snow, rain or mud especially when new and on roads. It transfers about a quarter of the power to the no spinning tire when it is engaged by centripetal force. It's a pretty cheap option and probably worth getting. Unless your planning on running Lunch-Boxes (Not really sure what they are but I know it makes using them harder to put on with the LSD equipment in there). Or you can upgrade to better Eaton Detroit Truetrac LSD aftermarket option (Probably somewhere over a grand upgrade).

I guess while I'm on my soap box I'll talk about Ruibicon Lockers. They only work when engaged by a button (unlike LSD), and lockers only work in 4-Low under 25 mph. They are the $hit if your really stuck and not just hitting a patch of ice. They lock the axle and there is no wheel spin and full power to both tires.

This is at least my understanding from doing a bunch of research.

The only thing that 'worries' me is the LSD and the Rubi Lockers. Living in the snowy mountains and not doing much off road, I definately go for the LSD. Though, all the options I want aren't available on the Sport (at least here in Europe; leather, nav, maybe a dual-top, etc) therefore a Sahara or Rubi are the ones to go for. Seen the fact I will not do serious off-roading, the Sahara is the best option. But those dawm body-coloured fenders and top........ So I would go for the Rubi and enjoy the fact of, well, of owning a Rubi So what's the issue with the Rubi Lockers? Still don't really get that part...

I have a 2010 Rubicon, 2 door. My only regret is I should have gotten into Jeeps earlier in life.

Just convinced myself into just getting a sport, and get an aftermarket nav-system and maybe heated seats. The leather is a shame though. Getting also the hardtop is another K I will have to thing about; living at 1500m of altitute with loads of snow it might be worth it. O sh$t, there I go again....thinking and calculating again, and again......

Lockers only work in 4 low. LSD is the way to go on the road. BLD works on all wranglers and acts like a LSD. That's how I understand it.

I got impatient and couldn't wait til they got the Rubicon and I went with the Sport. I love it but if I had it to do over I might try waiting til I got exactly what I wanted. Supply will eventually catch up with demand.

My wife drives the Wrangler as her dd. We both absolutely loved the Jeep when we got it home and def love it during the warm weather when we can take the top and doors off. Now that it's colder it has lost some of it's appeal and my wife somewhat regrets her decision. I think we have something going on with ride quality so we're going to run it by the dealer when we have a break in our schedule. If we're able to get it to drive smooth again without clanging around I think we may get back on board. When spring rolls around we'll probably fall in love all over again.

Yes, that is how I understand it as well. I doubt however whether the LSD does not work on a Rubi..?

So in theory, on a snowy road (so not trying to cross alaska but just a snowy road) a sport equiped with LSD works better than a Rubi on a day-to-day basis?

No regrets!

My 2009 2 door Sport has the aerodynamics of a brick on wheels, and it sucks the gas. When my three boys and I go camping we make like sardines. The windshield is a bug magnet.

Having said that I wouldn't change a thing. It's a Jeep and I love it. Not one regret!

Yes. That would be my understanding.
Lockers can be dangerous on the road that's why they are limited to 4 lo. rubis diffs are open. For DD LSD is better. All jeeps have the BLD and only simulates a LSD. Google LSD/BLD and there is a ton of threads talking about the differences.

Very much agreed. If you were to run a locker at normal driving speeds on a road (and you can't because they are limited to 8 or 10 mph in 4L) you would have control issues when you went around a turn. This is because in a turn the outer tire will rotate faster than the inner tire and the locker will prevent this from happening. The result on icy roads is one tire will lose traction every time you make a turn and thus cause you to have serious control issues. The LSD can cause a degree of this as well; however, it is normally manageable plus it will greatly improve your ability to go forward in the snow. I had the LSD in a F-150 4x4 when I lived in Anchorage and I loved it. That baby would go through the snow like a plow.
