Any tricks to get the sun bonnet over the door surrounds?

I have been trying to slide that plastic piece over the door channel for an hour now. Anyone have any advice? It seems it has to slide in, but attempting to do it seems almost impossible, does anything loosen the channel to get the sun bonnets plastic strip in?

Is the top on straight?
If it's off kilter but a bit, nothing fits.
Yeah, I learned that the hard way

^^^ This.

You should be able to roll that plastic flange right up into the channel. Can you get one side on, and not the other, or are both sides giving you problems? If it's not going on fairly easily, then your top's probably not on right.

Top is on straight as far as I know, neither side will go into that channel at all. It is latched on, and after that you are supposed to try to to roll it into channel. The plastic piece on bonnet is just not workable, it flexes at the front which stops all progress.

I am guessing the 2 part plastic pieces rest against the door frame, and the long plastic piece with notches that flex go into the channel. Just not working for me.

Can anyone with an 07-09 JK take a picture of your door surround, the channel at least? Pretty please

I'd take a photo for you, but I'm running an aftermarket soft top that uses an entirely different mounting system.

Hopefully somebody will come along...

If not, tomorrow would be a fine time to go topless.

thanks kb. I was told by quadrat top would fit, but I am thinking it may really be for an 07-09.

It shouldn't be that hard to force in, especially for the fact I can't even force it in, has to be made for different surrounds

It should still fit...as long as you have the hardware (such as door surrounds) for the year model top you've got, it should work on any JK.

Part was labeled 07-09. I have the 12 door surrounds, I can only assume they are different.

THAT is your problem, right there.

The 07-09 top will work, but you gotta have the hardware, including door surrounds, for it. Can't just buy the skin.

You had me worried there, for awhile.

It's hard when it's cold out. Try loosening the plastic a little to get one side in. Then put a little tape over a flat head screwdriver and try and tuck it under. That's what I had to do. Tighten when your done
