Anybody done ZERO mods to their JK so far?

Hey, I know this topic is really the antithesis of the whole idea of a forum, but is anybody driving a totally bone stock JK? Mine is still mod free at the moment, however I have a good excuse, I've only had it 10 days!

So, tell us about your completely stock JK and then, if you are armchair modding, what do you plan your first half dozen or so mods to be?

My armchair build so far:

Shorty Antenna (thought I'd done this but the one I got was wrong )
Side steps/bars (haven't decided which)
Mesh Grill Liners (not sure which yet)
Tinted SoftTop windows

Remember, mine is a city Jeep so no planned suspension mods or anything like that...yet (evil grin)

I put in hand holds on roll bar and 2 cabin filters in 2011 JK unlimited. Will buy real tires in future. I like it as it is - dual tops. My grandkids like it and I just throw everything in like it was a PU. Have to scrub saltwater stains from back of jeep from from dive gea real soonr.

I picked up my JKUR on Sept 13th, 2011 and it still sits stock (other than the flipped rear-view mirror). Figured I'd drive/wheel it that way for a year to easily diagnose issues and have them fixed under warranty... However, after visiting this and other forums...

In my garage, I have:
(4) SpiderTrax 1.5" Spacers
Smittybilt Extended Brief Top and Windshield channel
5 cans of black Plasti-Dip and masking tape for my wheels and hinges
a Lange Hoist-a-Top

Once the Temps here in Houston go down a bit, I'll knock all this stuff out... but right now... forget that!

I ordered a set of ACE Sliders last week from KrawlOff-Road... so they should show up sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Phase 2 will be a 2.5" TeraFlex lift and Window Tint
Phase 3 will be some 35" Tires (undecided... BFG or Nitto likely)
Phase 4 will be a JCR Crusader FW bumper w/Bull Bar and AEV Rear bumper w/Tire Carrier
Phase 5 will be a winch, S-Pod and lights, lights and more lights.
Phase 6 will be Trek Armor seat covers, Smittybilt MOLLE tailgate cover
Phase Infinity: odds and ends... forever...

I just joined the Jeep crowd. Just picked up a used low mileage 2010 Wrangler Unlimited Sport; had it for four days. It seems to be completely stock! Haven't even gotten to turning the mirror upside down!

Whomever owned it before me seems to have never used it. Well, expect to lose the second ignition key.

Mostly I have been reading about bike racks. Probably go with the spare tire mount, even given the concerns about weight, I won't be using it very often.

Were you looking for a stock 2010? Would you have paid more for a modded one?

I am curious because when I go to buy a used car (not wrangler) like a honda or civic, as soon as I see the coffee can exhaust and tacked on rear spoiler I move on to the next one.

I often wonder if it is the same with used Wranglers.

Do people who radically change from stock, pull stuff off before resale or do they get a premium for the upgrades?

I lifted my 09 JKUR with 260 miles on it. 4.5 long arm Mopar kit, and 37's.

I lifted my 12JKUR before I ever took delivery 4.5 AEV and 37's, and then a LOT MORE, and then sold it with 634 miles on it.

I ordered a 2013 JKUR, and almost sent it off to AEV for a turn key build, but didn't get the drop ship code to my dealer in time, and the JK is now in a rail car headed to it's new home up here in WA. I will be taking it home stock. I actually am looking forward to it. I don't like the way a JK looks stock, but I am anxious to see how it compares in daily use vs. my older JK's on 37's.

I ordered a Gecko Jeep, so I can't imagine it will be that boring stock! :D

AEV suspensions

Since you have already been running an AEV suspension and were at least prepared to order another, please comment on your experience with the AEV suspension product. What kind of trails do you run...is your Jeep more on-road than off-road? I've heard the AEV systems are "light-duty" and not built well enough to survive in a rocky trail environment. I'm getting ready to order a new 2013 Rubi and am thinking of sending it to AEV for a 3.5" DualSport suspension but I can't find out much about these systems.
Thanks

my JKU is 3 weeks old today. No real "mod's" yet but within a day I bought the bestop soft window storage, a wheel cover, side mirrors for when i'm doorless. Next is a locking fuel cap, towing hitch, canvasback cargo liner. Then new thule set up for hauling my Mad River 17' canoe when I put the hard top on. (Wish I could find a set-up for the soft top without spending big $) Then comes some fun stuff. What that will be, who knows but thats the fun of owning a Jeep. This is my first one and I'm so happy with it, I think Ill wait till I need to boost the fun factor. Of course, if I wait for the excitement to wain before I add real Mod's, I'll never buy anything haha

I have a CAI and very small leveling kit and that is ALL I'm doing to this '12 for a long while because I had a bad experience with my '11.

I had some issues with the Jeep with about 14,000 miles on the clock, and the first dealer I took it too put it on the rack and walked around it and looked at everything. Then they started making a list of "do nots" including the scratches on my skid plates from where I had "obviously been offroad", my bigger wheels/tires, the fact that I had changed my own gear oil and they could tell the diff. cover had been off, blah blah blah. Basically tried every way in the world to get out of doing warranty work.

So I went to another dealership, and they also refused to do any work on the Jeep, even though they KNEW what the problem was, and knew how to fix it, until Chrysler gave them direct permission and assurance that it would be covered under warranty. I ended up being without my Jeep for 7 days and about 30 phonecalls back and forth between Chrysler and the dealership. I was getting close to calling my lawyer and finally Chrysler fixed my Jeep.

All of that over 285/75s, a 3/4" leveling kit, the fact that I'd done my own service work on the Jeep and had been up under it, and scrapes on the skid plates.

So this time around I'm ONLY doing things that can easily be removed before going to the dealership. If I have any problems with this Jeep, I don't want to give them any reason to give me warranty grief. It's not worth it. The warranty is too valuable.

Have mine 5 month and about 3500 miles on it.

No real mods except turning the mirror upside down and building a cover for the rear cargo area for when the top is down. NOt for security, just to keep prying eyes away and not to have anything fly out when top is down.

This is not to say I haven't looked. Looking at wheels and tires, new front bumper, leveling kit among other things.

However, right now I am suffering from Funsalow - (funds are low). Haha. Daycare and Daycamp for 2 kids will do the trick. Hopefully get a little break from the money drain in fall and winter and can add mods then.

The only hurdle then will be my wife but my 2 kids love the jeep so it will be 3 on 1.
