Anybody else bought new cabin filters lately?

We added cabin air filters to our Wrangle right after we got it a year ago. Last week my wife bought replacements and they were $25 each. When we bought the originals they were $6. The part numbers are the same. Anybody else seen this 400% price increase? I can do a lot of filter cleaning for $50.

Surely you can get a wix generic for $6? All my other vehicles take generic filters at $5-$7 a pop. Say it ain't so!

For that much, it should keep you safe from nuclear fallout.

I went on Wix's site to see the dimensions of the filter. I'm going to sift through the filter sizes and I am sure a Honda/Acura one will come close, and I'll use that instead.

Wrangler Dimensions....

Length: 10.39
Width: 9.61
Height: 1.118

Just need to find another vehicle with similar dimensions.

I don't know what those dimensions are for, but they aren't for a Wrangler cabin filter. They come in a box that's about 3x3x6.

As for generic and aftermarket cabin filters, I have never had much luck with them fitting properly. I think they have a pile of generics and just pick the one that's closest.

Sorry, those are for a 2012. Dont know if other years are any different.

OEM filters of American cars are made by Wix.

Do the filters help much with the doors off on desert trails

Just kidding. For those that are curious, I believe the filter goes behind the glove box?!? Correct me if I am wrong.

The 2012 uses same filter as 2011. Small like oilwell mentioned.

Yes, the two filters go behind the glovebox.

Check the wix site or amazon yourself. They both state the same exact filter, with these dimensions. Could it be that they replaced the 2 filters with one?

Part number 24017. Same as Durango, and the GC.

Got to be a typo on the WIX website. I did a filter lookup by using the Moapr part number and the replacement filter is 24302. Identical to what I put in my 2012 and the same as my '11 used. Catalogs

$13.78 each here: http://www.discountfleetsupply.com/wix24302.html

Mine is a 2012. They aren't nearly that big. Maybe 6x5x.75.

Most OE filters are by Wix, not all of them. I suspect these are because they are made in Poland and Wix has facilities there.

No, but when you are going down a dirt road with everything sealed up and surrounded by fire, smoke, ashes and flaming debris they do a pretty good job of keeping particulates out of the inside. If I was wheeling I wouldn't worry about it, but 99.9% of our driving is on road and 80% is with the doors and top on.

I don't know if we will change ours or not, but I wanted to have them on hand if ours were dirty when I checked them. I would only change them if they are dirty. Check them every year or more often if you drive in dusty conditions alot. As someone alluded to above, if you primarily run with the top or doors off I would just pull them out and not worry about them.

That's more like it. I'll check with a local parts store tomorrow and see what they get for them now that I have a part number that looks reasonable. And assuming my wife will settle for a non-OE part in this case.

I guess I stand corrected. Someone should tell Wix and Amazon they have it wrong. However, based on your measurements, it almost as if as the one is the same size as the two.

I thought about that too, but the width of two correct filters added together isn't even close to the single filter that Wix lists.

I sent Wix and email and explained the error. Will see what they respond back with.

I have a 2013 Wrangler

I bought the Wix 24302 filters for $17.03 for the package of 2 from Rock Auto

But, in order to get the correct filters, I had to specify that I had a 2011 Jeep since they didn't have the right number on their website.
I installed them the other day and they fit fine and are the same size as the Mopar 1-55111302AA filter

Just so I am clear, you ordered 1 package for $17.03 and it contained 2 filters?

The link you posted says it has two in the box for $13.78. And I think DFS gives a discount to forum members on top of that.

Yes, 2 in the box, so you only need one box for the filter change.

They are made in Poland as is the Mopar filter, so I am guessing that Wix makes the Mopar filter and Mopar raises the price considerably

I needed a bunch of parts for my Toyota also, and I have always had good and fast service from Rock Auto
