Anybody running a "bugshield" for window protection?

Well, after my third rockhit which has given me 1 8 inch crack and another 13 inch crack it's time for a windshield. I'm wondering if anybody is using a bugshield and if it has helped with rocks. I had a Hummer H3 (same vertical windshield) and I got plenty of star cracks but the glass was a lot tougher...never a running crack. This jeep glass seems to be ultra thin.

I did instal one about 6 months ago, I had gotten a few chips the first while I had it so I figured it couldn't hurt... It definitely protects the good from stones and bugs but I can't really say how much it actually does for the windshield

It looks good but only protects the hood. It dose not stop any thing from hitting the windshield.

I have the Bushwacker on the front. I will say it has reduced the amount of bugs, but they still come. Nothing is going to stop a rock.

I used to put the older type bug-shields on all my vehicles until I figured out that they were actually deflecting rocks up towards my windshield. At least that's the conclusion I came to after having to replace about 6 windshields. But that was the flat type of bug-shield and after I quit using them I never had another crack/ding in my windshield until I bought this 2013 Wrangler. 3rd day I had it someone shot a pellet gun at me when I was driving and I had to have it replaced. But I can't speak about the newer (to me) type of bug-shields you see on this thread, the wrap around type. If people have been running them and haven't had any rock deflection problems, I may get one just because I think they look cool.

Does that bushwhacker lay flat on the hood? Yours is the best view yet. Is that a stock bumper with the modified takeoff end caps? Where'd you get them?

Yep, it adheres to the hood, protecting the leading edge. It also has a ridge which forces the air up. The bumper is stock with chopped ends and the mbpr light bar. All was purchased from Quadratec. Heres a close up.

Based on my experience with one on my '99, I can say that they do nothing on a Jeep as far as deflecting things from the windshield.

They do trap stones nicely between the shield and the hood though, so the area can get all scratched to hell.

I have one, it works a little bit on bugs, but not nearly as well for birds.

As mentioned earlier, the bug deflector keeps some small insects off of the windshield but does not keep anything like rocks & etc. off. I would also say that they bug deflector also keeps some items off of the hood as well.

I have the weathertech shield. Fits great. Looks great. But does nothing to prevent rock chips of windshield. Does protect the hood. The windshield is so upright that everything hits it.

So I installed the Rugged ridge bug shield about two weeks ago, but have decided to remove it. I like the way it looks, but it does not really help with the bugs. In all reality, it actually makes it worse because the amount of wind being deflected shakes my mirrors and keeps the window washer from being effective.

I ran this for a while, but found it to be pointless for helping save the windshield from bugs and rocks. It also made good flutter worse because it wedges the hood open slightly. Lastly, I am not a fan of the look so that was that.
