Anybody running BFG Rugged Terrains in 285/70/17?

I ordered up a set from my local tire place (same prices as DTD) but I'm having some second thoughts and I still have some time to change my mind for the Duratracs. Wondering if anybody is running them and if they would please post a pic to help me imagine what they'll look like. I just don't want to regret not getting the tire I really want but it's hard to pass up on saving 500 bucks for a fully on-road vehicle. Thanks!

I'd like to know this too. The BFGs have shallow tread and I hear they run small too. They are clearly a street tire built for the "look" while maintaining MPGs. Would like to see them on a JK.

My favorite quote from the press release.. sad but true: "Chrysler claims its products, especially the Jeeps, can handle all sorts of terrible conditions, churning through muddy swamps, climbing mountains, and crossing rivers. Turns out they cannot even handle a car wash."

I thought about those as well, but not many winter reviews. Reminded me of the geolander A/T-S, and I liked those. Very interested to see on a JK.

I ended up with duratracs because I didn't want to test a new tire.

I guess I'm going to be the guinea pig as they arrived at the tire shop today and they looked really good in 285 (10 times better than they did in 225 that they had on display!). Going tomorrow to get them installed and can't wait to see how they look on the Addicts. I guess I'll know then if it was worth saving the 500 bucks!

If you can, please measure with a tape measure from the ground up and see how tall they are. Also measure the width of the tread area. That would be helpful in determining if they truly run small or not.

We switched out the originals and put these on before we left the dealer. They have been great in the snow. We didn't have a ton of snow last winter but these seemed to have good traction. The only complaint is they throw rocks all over but that is to be expected I guess.

He said he was going today to get them installed. I wonder where the pictures are?

The pics will be posted tomorrow after I clean the Jeep up as it was almost dark when I got home (had it done after work). They look FANTASTIC and drive great and I'm definitely happy with them so far. This isn't the same Jeep I drove earlier in the day!

And I'll be sure to measure them up but if they run small I sure can't tell by looking at them as they fill out the wheel well perfectly IMO.

Here they are! The measurements appear to be 32" x 8-3/4" so they may be smaller than the Duratracs but I know for the $500 difference I'm not going to complain and there is absolutely no rub but that's thanks to the Addicts. Oh, and I installed my Ace Rock Rails between photos so it's not lopsided LOL. I'm still undecided on the white letters out as I asked them to show the blackwalls and discovered it too late (though they'll flip them if I want them to). Next step are full tints (5% in back and 20% up front) and she'll be done...for now.

Nice. Thanks for the measurements and pics. Those measurements are actually spot-on the other 285s I've seen.

I live in the Buffalo area so I'm sure I'll have plenty to report this winter. But did you have to say the "S" word in August? Bad enough it's back-to-school time already for the kids and I don't even want to think about what's coming.

I was just in Rochester working for the last few years. Can't say I'll miss the white stuff, so I feel your pain.
