Anybody tint their windshield?

Just got my front doors done. Best bang for the buck I'll probably get. 75 bucks and it looks awesome.

Wondering about the windshield. It doesnt have the upper tinted band that most vehicles have. Wondering if anybody has tinted the upper portion of their windshield.

I did the glare strip. Was thinking of doing entire windshield like my previous vehicles. But decided it was to obvious with the top off.

Reduced light-transmission in the windshield is illegal in many states.

Check out Llumar "air blue" windshield film for reduced HEAT-transmission...without reducing light-transmission. (means its clear)

Legal in all 50 states

Technically any window film that covers the entire windshield is illegal. Clear or tinted. I know I got the ticket for uv clear on the windshield.

Windshield tint is a bad idea. I would never do it. And besides...with all the side and rear windows tinted if you stand back and look at the front of the Jeep it looks like the windshield is tinted already. There is a UV layer in there that really becomes noticeable with the side windows tinted.

But yeah, tinting the entire windshield follows the same level of retardedness as tinting your tail lights. Certain parts of a vehicle allow light to pass through for a reason.

Considering the OP is only talking about the top 1/5th and not the entire windshield there's nothing wrong nor illegal about that. The problem though is there's no way to get a seamless look since it's not done by the factory so you'll always see the edge of the film.

In '95 I tinted all the windows on my YJ (that came with a hard top) than I added 3 sets of driving lights and 2 sets of fog lights cause I couldn't see...bad idea IMO....

One reason I'm against tinting my windscreen is that the glass cracks rather frequently. 2nd windshield is cracked.

With the relatively flat profile of the glass, it is a pretty easy DIY project.

Check on your State vehicle law [mine allows only the top six inches to be tinted] and if it is allowed, cut it about 1/2 inch shorter than legal or more to avoid any problems.

I'd do it if you get a seamless look.

I did the whole Windshield. Didn't even make it 1/4 Mile Down the Road, I Pulled Over and Ripped it Off.

I had the Top & Doors Off and there was WAY too much Reflection from my Clothes, Dash, and other things Inside the Cabin. I couldn't get myself to "Look through it" to Focus on what was on the Road.

Got nothing but the Sun Strip now and it's Good.

I have Air 80 on my Jeeps. It IS a tint, just 80%, so very light. Works and looks great, can't tell it's on there if you arent looking for it!

I had my windshield tinted on my last truck and it was great. Kept the heat and glare out. I did have a crack in the windshield that had to be replaced and insurance covered the cost of the tint, too.

I got the "brow" tinted I believe its cost was $25 added to the cost for the rest of the vehicle. You can check my pictures to see what mine looks like. They were hesitant because of a previous crack but I hate driving into the sun on the way to and from work. I took the chance anyway. Love the look of it.

I am blind in one eye so my eyes are really light sensitive. I have a tint prescription from the doctor. My sides are done with 20 percent and my entire windshield is done in 37 percent. I love mine

I'm stalling on the brow tint until I decide whether to replace the windshield for a crack. The shops here charge $20-25 for the brow, whatever color and tint % you pick. I had the front side windows tinted to match the rear for $80.

I have 50% on the entire windshield, Yes you can tell but I don't seem to be a cop magnet cuz I haven't been plucked for it yet. I have a triple black JKU with the factory tined rear and Hardtop glass so I matched the 2 fronts with 20% and the 50% on the windshield made it pretty dark.

The worst part of the tint on the windshield is that it cuts down on the already terrible light output of the factory headlights... other then that the pros outweigh the cons.
