Looked at FJ losers and bummers. They don't compare to a Jeep. I had a 1974 FJ40 though and I liked it better than jeeps back then.

I have to say I loved my FJ and surprised the crap out of everyone one I know, even me when I gave her up 2 weeks ago for my Rubicon.

An FJ is not for everyone, it can offroad as long as the trail is wide enough, but your gonna loose ALOT of paint if it's not. It has the biggest blind spots of any vehicle I have seen, entire cars can be lost between the mirrors and the pillar. The rear doors can be a pain, especially when people park too close. It's decent on gas...better than the Jeep, and it's a Toyota....70k and NEVER an issue with anything.

There are fewer accessories and mods, the doors DON'T come off and the low top gives you a "special" lean when waiting for the light to change. And don't get me started about the 3 wipers....my only verbalized complaint ever.

With all that said it was the freedom top on the Jeep that got me to give her up. The rest of it's abilities are just icing. I'm still getting to know my Jeep, it doesn't even have a name yet but I know this was the right decision.

I can't wait to take it to the beach!

Test drove one just to see. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. Several things it has/cannot do that a Jeep doesn't/can do:

FJ has:

PITA doors: while the styling may look cool in that it doesn't look like a traditional 4 door, they're a pita when you have 2 little kids.

Bad blind spots: nuff said.

Automatic only. I wanted stick!

Hardtop only. I wanted the top off!

Horrible leg room for the front passenger. This was what my wife couldn't stand about it. It felt uncomfortable for her.

Cheesy interior. Just looked and felt cheap.

Finally...they weren't willing to come down much in price at all. It's almost like they didn't even want to sell a truck!

All of this gave me the ammo I needed to convince my wife that I wanted the Jeep. Her only concern was regarding the safety tests since we have two little kids. I told her not to worry - that's what the roll bar/child seats are for LOL!

You should have listened to your wife

Check who is #6 on the list. Wrangler scores very poorly in side and rear crash, even with optional side airbags.
The roll bar is actually what "killed" the dummy in side crash test.

One of the few car models that actually underperforms the two-door Jeep Wrangler is the larger four-door version. This version of the Wrangler also received a “marginal” rear-impact rating, yet was also given a “poor” side-impact rating. During a recent IIHS side-impact test, a dummy was struck by the steel bars supporting the four-door Wrangler’s convertible roof. Both of the models’ overall poor performance stems in part from the fact they were unable to protect the driver’s or back-seat passengers’ heads and other bodily parts in simulated accidents.
Needless to say, FJ, like most Toyotas, score high marks in crash tests (and real life accidents). For more info, visit www.iihs.org

Resident Toyota shill, back in action.

Pay no mind folks. This guy trolls the forum dumping on Jeep and extolling the glory of Toyota. It's what he does. All . . . the . . . time. Go ahead and search his old posts and you'll see.

Whether his interest is actually commercial or just some sort of mental illness, I don't know. But this is what he does. Over, and over, and over, and over . . . .

Am I the only one that saw that coming?

So much hate, yet so much time to browse a jeep forum.

He is by far the biggest idiot to ever post here. His moronic diatribes only further galvanize the jeep brethren. I actually feel pity for someone who leads such a sad pathetic existence.

Get a FJ if you want but if you wheel it stock you'll just need a Wrangler to pull you out.

I've seen FJs go wheeling in packs. They are all heavily modified. While I see a lot of Wranglers that are modified, I also see stock Wrangler handling trials with ease that I don't think the stock FJs can handle.

Then again, I haven't ridden in one or even talked to one of their drivers. Just seen their packs wheeling off in the distance.

It is impressive how jannikt does this.
He may be crazy but he sure is consistent.
Maybe we should hire him to do the same thing on the toyota forums.
