Anyone convert tailgate on thier JK?

Love the idea of having a tailgate that folds down. Swag seems a little pricey....anyone done this conversion? Have a good swing out spare carrier that works with it? Any DIY conversions?

I have seen a kit to do this, dont remember where or from whom. Havent heard of anyone doing it recently. Seems like it could potentially interfere with aftermarket bumpers or racks. Wouldnt mind seeing one in person though.

Somebody had a brilliant idea of using the factory hinge locations for a swing away tire carrier.
I emailed Swag. They were supposed to implement it in their kits.
Don't like the idea of not having a spare.

Ya I agree.

One of the guys on the Tj forum did a full DIY write-up on the hinge modification.
Last time I checked the site, still no hinge conversion

The Swag website says it works with an aftermarket swing away spare carrier....but no pictures of that set up. I wouldn't drive without a spare, that's why I was curious if anyone had done it. Don't really want to spend that kind of money only to find I can't use it with a swing away

Hoping to get more insight!
