Anyone else sickened by the new JK ad campaign?

Bunch o' chicks in a hair salon? Then driving around town with their hair blowing around???

WTF?!? Was nothing learned from the H2's "Get your girl on" epic marketing fail?

Marketing 101: Market to your most favored audience. Go after your fringes on occasion but stick with your major market. What were they thinking?

Yah, sex sells...show me more in the commercials in a way that gets men excited about owning a jeep. Keep a few of the girlie commercials if they think that they can capture some of that market but lets get back to selling jeeps to the market that always buys them....MEN.

Now THAT'S more like it. It's not a choice between seeing dingbats from the hair salon or beer-bellied two-toed sloths. Just show us JEEPS doing JEEP STUFF.

I was considering replacing my beloved XJ with a 4-door JK, but I can't take a chance on some dude in a CJ shouting catcalls at a stoplight.

Anybody do that to me at a stoplight, I'd have to consider the source. It's a jeep. It's capable. A commercial may make it look like a chick vehicle but the statistics speak for themselves. It's a guy thing.

Not only is the commercial somewhat out of sink with the real jeep, but why in god's name would they be selling a jeep with no top in the middle of winter? You would think they would be trying to show how great they are in the snow or how they can be used as a utility for pushing snow or something like that.

That totally makes you want to go out and buy a new Jeep! Makes me want to get a second one just for fun. The shot of the girls and hair makes me want sell mine and buy a FJ Cruiser.

My hubby laughed when I cussed up a storm after seeing that commercial.

Going topless and not throwing your hair up in a hat or a god awful ponytail is a real hazard, blows straight into your face, not all wispy behind your head.

Still love my jeep but I told him more now than ever do I want that badass new bumper and 35's on it! I can justify it now, told him I must set my self apart from that awful new stigma they are creating!!!

Not so fast..... I decided I wanted a Wrangler, not my husband. Even tho' he loves it now, too..

I totally disagree with the ad campaign, face it no one, male or female drives or rides for long being beaten to death by their hair.... It's no fun. Driving a topless Jeep is a blast, and just another reason I wanted one, but I have very short "Jeep Hair".... They are poorly representing, no doubt.

It is a good video but I wouldn't want to be in Aus' & own a Jeep, they aren't even allowed to take their doors off, how silly is that

Lol yea... I'm thinking they're not sticking to their Target Market.. although I get their idea in doing so. They need new jeep drivers bcus a lot of their general targets are out buying older ones and jacken them up.. so I guess it's different, only matters if it works for Jeep

You need to pay attention more. Commercials always show summer events in the winter and vice versa. People always long for the season they are not in. Don't forget that it's still in the 80's in Miami.

OP... Although not a commercial that I can relate to, I am glad to see Jeep putting marketing dollars into the Wrangler brand and targeting a different market. If it helps sell more of them... the more money the make, the more stable they become, the more likely the innovation and quality go back into the Wrangler.

Cars are psychological projections of who we want to be. Sporty, tough, sophisticated, rich, weird - we can project any image we want through the brand attributes of our vehicle. It doesn't even need to be true, it just needs to have the right image (which explains Mustangs being sold with smaller engines and 2x4 Jeeps).

Jeep Wrangler appeals to "adventuresome" and "spirited." It's a car (yes, a car) that makes young people feel unattached and not tied down. The opposite of a minivan.

And it appeals to girls. And that's what those commercials are going for.

The enthusiast market (that's us!!) is actually a small part of the pie. We're the only ones who hate our Jeeps being called "cars" and hate the idea of the Wrangler being marketed as a girlie car.

Go to a shopping mall near a big college campus and check it out. There are tons of Wranglers, and most of the drivers have no idea about things like lifts, replacement tops, aftermarket bumpers, or any of that. They just like the idea that it looks like they could take off on an adventure at any moment. Right after they get their nails done.

HOLY COW this is awesome. Short and to the point of why owning a Jeep kicks ass. 100% on target and on message.

Chrysler will introduce several new models that rely on Fiat platforms and technology. The first of these will be a new mid-sized sedan from Chrysler based on Fiat’s C-Evo platform, followed by new hatchback and a compact Jeep. There will also be redesigned versions of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300 arriving as early as next year.

Several models will be dropped from Chrysler’s U.S. lineup as well. These will include a number of Dodge models, such as the Caliber, Nitro, Avenger, and several Jeep models, too, such as the Commander, Compass, and Patriot. Other vehicles getting the axe include Chrysler’s PT Cruiser and Sebring.”

May be the reason for pushing the Wrangler as a Female Friendly vehicle, since they appear to be dropping several different models.
