Anyone experiencing stains on billet rear bumper near tire?

Bought my brand new JKU a couple weeks ago. After a good rain I noticed there were dark brown stains on the silver portion of the rear bumper on both sides of the spare tire. I assume it's something dripping off the tire. Got new tires and it did the same thing. So, drove the new tires for 500 miles and rotated them out to see if that would help wear off anything on the tire causing the issue and it's still causing a stain, not quite as bad but still not good. Any suggestions on how to remedy this issue would be so helpful. Thanks!

It stops after a while. I used a goo off liquid and it wiped right off.

Thanks. I will just keep cleaning it off. I'll also rotate the tires again this summer after they've hit some warm asphalt. That should do the trick.

Yes. I cleaned mine off just yesterday and put on a tire cover. Hopefully the stains will stop.

yes, I have had that problem too. I didn't have to use goof off, as light rubbing while washing the car took it off, but it's annoying.

My wife's billet had this problem, very badly. My commando green did not. Very strange...

Interesting to hear how many people are having this issue. I wonder if I take the billet insert piece off if there will be stains left on the black bumper? I don't care for the look of tire covers. So, I wonder how long this will take to stop "bleeding" onto my bumper. So annoying to have to clean the bumper daily. If I let it sit too long it takes some muscle to get it off. Not to mention I wonder how the constant scrubbing is going to hold up on the paint. I'm not using abrasive products, but still worry it will damage it over time. Can anyone share how long yours took to finally stop staining?

Since you are up north and don't have quite the heat to make this suggestion a bad idea - because the summer heat leaves this looking very greasy at times - use a bit of spray wax on the silver part.

Spray a clean cloth with the wax and wipe it on the whole silver cap so it's even, the future drips will wipe off easy. Reapply as you need it.

I would think about taking the cap off for awhile until it stops though, but I wasn't a fan of the caps to begin with either.

Thanks. Yes, I think I'll try the wax for a bit. If it continues I'll take off the cap.

So, the Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover is awesome! No scrubbing. Wiped the stain right off. Still decided to take off the silver inserts today for front/rear bumper. I like how it looks much better now.

Could you show a pic of the change? Was it difficult to change? Thanks

No, it wasn't hard to take the bumpers off and remove the billet insert. Here is a pic of the front/back with them off.

I have the same problem with 2015 Wrangler Unlimited Sport. I do not have the gray billet so I'm trying to clean drip marks off plastic stock bumper. I would actually like to clean off and not use waxes like back to black to cover up -- any suggestions?

Not to be contrary, but you should use SOME kind of protectant on your bumpers/fenders. They will fade like a in the sun without. If you don't like the heaviness of Back to Black, check out Aerospace 303. It is a spray on protectant with UV protection. It doesn't leave them shiny. It is VERY popular here.

Best bet for cleaning is a medium stiffness plastic bristle brush, some good car wash soap and LOTS of elbow grease.

Hope this helps!

Starbrite, didn't you have a link to an aerospace 303 sale? I use this on my other cars and want to order some more tonight if the sale is still going on.

Mike sent me the slickdeals ad. I verified it worked and came here to post it. As soon as I went back to place the order, the price had gone up RIDICULOUSLY!

It WAS an awesome deal. I wish I'd ordered BEFORE I tried to share the deal.
