First tank on my '13 JK four door manual I'm at 19.9 with one highway trip... Not too shabby considering my lifted '02 GMC Sierra was averaging 9 mpg!

I've done 16K miles since August. On a long highway trip I get between 23-24 mpgs but in my daily 40 mile commute each way (about 20% city and rest country roads I get between 17-19 mpgs. 3.6 auto 3.21 gears 2 inch lift rubi tires.

How is that 3.21 with the larger tires? I found everything I want in a jeep.... Except it has 3.21 gears instead of 3.73. Since I really want to mount 33" tires I passed on it.... But should I reconsider?

A 2012+ with 3.21s and 33s would probably be ok. The new 5 speed auto is a lot better than the old 4 speed auto. If it's a manual you'd be ok either way. If that Jeep is everything you want except for the gears i'd go for it. You can always change gears later on if you find it too sluggish with 33s. Even on the 2011s and below a lot of people run 33s on 3.21.

My last two fill ups resulted in 20.2 mpg and 20.7 mpg. (Hand computed - NOT dash computed.) Probably 50% in town and 50% highway. (2013, JKU Sport, 6 speed, 3.73 gear ratio)

Note that this is at 5000' elevation with 85 octane.

Also I drive like a grandma

Based on the EVIC with almost 6,000 miles on the ODO:

I usually get around 17-19mpg on the highway driving like a normal Masshole and around 15-18 around town.

That being said, this past weekend I made a point of being eco and I hit a personal best of 21.5mpg after 85 miles (I filled up the tank in MA, drove home to CT). To accomplish this impossible task I kept it 90-95% of the time at 65mph, sometimes up to 70, and whenever not on the highway shifting (6sp) at 2k rpm. Oh, and I have a '13JKU with 3.73

Dont't settle, i was in the same boat as you but they all had 3.21 gears. I finally drove both and I am glad I held my ground on the 3.73. If your going to add larger tires than its a must. The 3.21 are for flat land driving.

Also, when speeding up while already at cruising speed, try to do it lightly enough to where the ECO light never turns off. It's a nice little challenge.

I think these must be big reasons I'm over 20mpg in a JKU and my wide over 21mpg in a JK

That's an amazing discovery! You can also do all your 4 wheeln downhill!
Sorry, could'nt help myself.

So it's eating lunch that's jacking with my mileage!? I'll try to cut back on that!

Here are graphs for the 2013 showing relative rpm for a given tire size vs your gear ratio. You be the judge of what you are comfortable with and what you want to do (got this from jeephertz who has compiled a thesis on this subject.

I've always gotten over 20mpg, mostly city driving, but where I live there isn't too much traffic. Oh yeah... its a 2door manual with stock 29" tires

'13 JKU Sahara
2,400 miles
3.73 rear
'13 Rubicon wheels/tires set to 36psi (climbs to 40psi on the road)
a full tank of Sunoco 93 octane

20.2 mpg VA to Gettysburg, PA area, 60-65mph mostly highway. Light on the pedal really does help. Above 65-70 I drop to 19.xx

Why 93 Octane? Is your engine pinging or knocking with 87?

2012 2 door - all stock, hard top on
(pull the freedom pannels and I loose a couple mgps)
manual transmission
3.73s with stock highway tires

Driving all highway on a full tank of gas (about 350 miles, 55-60 mph on the back roads of eastern Oregon) I averaged 26.5 mpg. That's calculated by doing the math at the pump and it was about spot on with the Jeep's calculations.

Driving a bit faster at say 65-70 it will drop down to about 23 mpg.

Mixed driving city and highway, just tooling around, I get between 19-20 usually.

So I feel pretty good about it myself.

Wheeling for 6 hours however the computer said I was getting 10.5 mpg, good thing it was several hours and only a handful of miles so I had enough gas to get back...

Road trip tomorrow I will reset and find out. Usually use cruise control and I have a 13 auto with 4:10's. So far 16.5 with my less foot in town and sometimes 13 mpg with a super lead foot.

2011 6 speed manual
As long as my journey is longer than 10 minutes I get 29+ mpg town driving .(quietish roads).
It takes 10 minutes to get to operating temperature.
Have not tried the stop start or the cruise control yet.
By now you should have guessed I have a weasel.

I'm getting about 18.5 mpg 2012 wrangler 2door manual 3.21 gears with 33 by 12.50 tires all city! I'm super happy I'm getting that good of mileage with my tires. On the highway if I go 68 to 70 I get 21.5 to 22!

Road trip this afternoon was about 17 mpg with a crazy strong cross wind and traveling 65-80 mph depending on how bad the wind was. 4 hr trip and now I need a beer and a nap. Maybe ill see better on the way back if there's no wind but its spring.
