I have the 4.10 and track it with a app. The best ive got is 16.2. keep in mind the rating on the sticker is model wide, not model specific. So a sport with the 3.21 could see this but you will never see this with a rubi.
I also found the evic MPG to not even be close. After the last wheeling trip mine said 13.7. I filled up as soon as we were done. drove a full tank and evic then said 17.2. doing the math for that tank i got 15.5 mpg. so tell me how I could go from 13.7 to 17.2.. I have never reset the evic MPG since I bought the jeep.
We took at drive out to Rausch this past weekend, 200 mile drive. I averaged 19.20mpg and I'm in a 2door Rubicon with 4.1, 35" Duratracs and 2" lift. My everyday driving is a mix of highway/city and I only get 15mpg.
Keep in mind that the MPG numbers Jeep claims is likely based on a base model with 3.21 gears and the base 16" wheels.
However the first few months I had my JK Unlimited Sahara w/ 3.73 gears, I could regularly get 20MPG on the highway and 18 mixed. Now with mods and heavy tires I get more like 17 highway and oddly 16 city.
I have a '12 JK manual -- If I just drive to work and back (all highway; 36 miles each way) I will almost always get at least 20/21mpg... As soon as I start driving back roads and hitting lights it goes down to around 17/18mpg...
Also dont go off your cluster gauge, thats not accurate at all.
'12 JK Sport, 3.8 VVT, 6 spd man, 3.21, 255/75/17 Wranglers (soon to be 285/70/17 Dura's)
At 2000 miles 16.5, at 6200 miles 18.5 average. Mid-grade fuel. Have hit 21 on highway only driving. I do notice the better the gas, the better the mileage, have not calculated the cost benefit of premium fuel.
pfft...you guys and your penstars...i have the crappy 3.8 and on the same trip as Matador, i got about 22 mpg and i have the 4 door...o and i have the crappy 3.21 gears and a 2" lift with 35's....maybe it was because i have the manual transmission...
On my stock 2012 JKU Sahara w/ 32" tires (not sure on the gear ratio), I average around 19 with my commute. If I don't go out for lunch, I can usually get it around 19.5-19.9. I travel 70 miles RT each workday, and over 95% of that is on the freeway.
2010 stock sport 2 dr, and i average around 20-21 mpg most days during the week. hot dogging it around in the boonies on weekends i get less, but them im driving aggressively so i wouldn't expect it to sip gas.
Ive also noticed when i take the top down, mpg at highway speeds suffers; all the extra air drag i guess. below 55 the top up or down doesn't matter.
2013 Sahara 2 dr. auto 3.73s.. I have seen tank avarages around 20.4
I do a mix of 10-20 mile highway runs and what i'd call back roads..not really much "city" driving. I do about 500 miles/ week.
i have no lift, running Grabber AT2s 275/65-18 same diameter as stock , more tread and about 2# heavier / tire.
I will same that the harder of faster i push..75-80 i see a drop. Thats just aerodynamics.
