Anyone have a 4 dr lift on a 2dr?

My friend has to get rid of his jeep! Bummer! He just ordered the TF 2.5" coil lift w/ shocks and isnt going to put it on. He's offered me a good deal. Only... I have a two door. Will this work? I assume I'll sit a tad higher. What is the difference in the parts?
Thanks Guys,
Jon

Yes it will work, and it does indeed provide a larger lift. Seems like it is about .5"-.75" higher if I recall correctly. I would contact Teraflex directly and ask them for clarification.

IIRC, you'll end up with about a 3" or 3"+ lift, but it works.

EDIT: 4fit beat me to it. We're not parrots.

I'll have 33's going on with the lift. Is 3" too much? Think it'll look funny? He only wants 5 bills for it. I'd save a good buck!Hard to pass up!

That does it for me! I'm getting it! That looks great man! It shouldn't look bad at all w/ 33's. It even looks good with the stockies!

Thanks, I think so too.

You may have an issue on how the springs sit in the front. Notice I have a metal bumper and winch up front, which (I think) helped to keep the Jeep level. Later on I did put a metal bumper in the rear (you can see it on the 35s pic) and then got a TF 1/2" spacer/guide in the rear to keep things even. It seems every Jeep is a little different so just be aware that you may have to tweak it a bit for your Jeep.

I realize people have done it, but I wouldn't recommend it ... at least not before checking out spring rates, etc.

You're going to get a weird handling jeep (or, best case, a less-than-as-good-as-it-could-be jeep) by throwing on springs rated for a 4-door on a 2-door, particularly if they're dual-rate or progressive.

Holy cow. Not sure If I actually seen those pics. What a difference

Waiting on TF to send me 1" rear spacers to level out the jeep.

"every jeep is a little different" for sure!!
My 2 door lift sits 1-11/2 higher in the front .

Thats what I was thinking. They make 2 and 4-door versions for a reason.
Thanks

The 2 door kit puts 3" coils in the front and
2" In the rear. Some get a little more some less. Should average out around 2.5"
Plan on other components and more $$$ if
you go over 3"

JOE002,

Could you post some measurements for us? Maybe ground to bumper heights? ground to bottom of fenders?

It's not about height, though ... It's about the springs being rated for the weight they're carrying and tuned to each other - this is especially true on the dual and progressive rate springs. Then, shock valving has to be tuned to the spring rates used and what weight is actually being carried.

You get what you pay for ... Just sayin'.

They originally only had the 4 door lift (they just called it the 2.5” spring lift). For my rig it worked out great because I added extra weight to the front and rear which made it sit just right. Later they came out with the 2 door and 4 door versions. I’m guessing that they came out with the 2 door version for people that don’t add heavy stuff to the front/rear. I don’t believe they changed the springs other than height - not progressive or fancy, just good (they’ve held up well for me and give me a good ride on and off road).

Measurements from the center of my front and rear fenders to the ground in inches (with my stock 32s):

Stock ------------------------: 36.00/36.500
Added metal bumper and winch -: 35.25/36.500
Added TF 2.5” Spring lift-----: 39.00/38.750
Added TF .5” rear spacer/guide: 39.00/39.375
Added metal bumper in the rear: 39.00/39.125

Get the lift. I was looking at my 2.5" lift yesterday thinking it would look good another inch higher. The $ you save could go to your driveshaft when you need it.

Just letting everyone know I passed on this lift. I ordered the 2-door 2.5" coil spring TF lift from Northridge. Got the Bilstiens and the bolt replacement kit for under 800! That will work for what I want to do. For now...!!
