Just bought a Trektop NX about a month ago & no leaks so far :::knock on wood::: Also have a hardtop, but only had that on for about a week or two before I installed the Trektop, but in that time, it didn't leak. We will see once I reinstall it for the winter.

Premium softop, and hardtop. Both have been thru very heavy rain/wind. No leaks. Don't buy the "its a jeep thing". If yours leaks (assuming you put it on correctly) then make the manufacturer/dealer keep replacing them at their expense till its fixed.

I noticed water on the front passenger side door a couple days ago. I figured I was going to have a problem. But when I looked, it was just the weather stripping at the top of the door. It just popped off. When I stuck it back in everything was fine.

It is a 2013 2dr.

Mine does. On a good day it doesn't leak, on a bad day it pours like a faucet onto the passenger side door handle.

It's obnoxious, but I guess it boils down to how much money you really want to throw at it. If you've paid a dealership to fix this issue 6 times over and it's still leaking I would be raising some hell with their service department.

Personally I'm not terribly concerned (mostly because I'm never on the passenger side of my Jeep). Some things you just might have to put up with.
It has all been handled under warranty. But evidently they cannot fix it. Yet.

I'd be pissed if mine leaked... I've had my 2012 for just over a year now and it only leaks when i power wash the tailgate. I've been through some pretty heavy rain and not a drop has come through.

The OP (that's the "original poster") asked if it's normal that the roof leaks. He/she asked for information from us (the Forum) to determine if there is such a thing as a soft top that doesn't leak (or if its normal). So....by answering the question we are "throwing it his/her face"??? Here is what the OP didn't ask....the op didn't ask how you feel about YOUR jeep leaking...yet you posted your feeling about that. Didn't you know that the only thread that it is ok to post up irrelevant stuff (specially bacon-fueled comments) is the "not a fan of the new wranglers.." thread

I've had 4 Jeeps, TJ YJ and 2 JK's. Currently have JKUR with dual top group. Only leaks I've ever had were soft top when I didn't put them on correctly or misaligned them during installation. Managed to correct them pretty easy. My dealer fixed my 00 2 times before he finally got up the nerve to show me how it was all my fault. Might not have told me then but we are friends and I was chewin his ass over it at a poker game. Once he showed me what I was doing wrong I havent had leaks since. Maybe ask the service guys if its something your doing to cause it.

That is a very good point. My Jeep had been leaking before I ever bought it. Discovered this after I got it home. Since I have had leak issues from day one I have never touched the top myself. Until the leaks are repaired I want them to know that I have never so much as unlatched the top. I am certain that some of these issues are due to the dealer not installing the new tops correctly. In fact, I dont know for sure that the top is actually the issue. The first top they replaced, when I got it back, was so far out of adjustment that there was no way for it not to leak. Even though it is a pain in the ass I am putting it squarely on the dealer to fix it. And they obviously have very little experience with these tops so who knows how long this will take. It is good to hear there are so many who have had no issues. Thanks for the replies.

I've owned 3 different jeeps over the last 15 years and the only means I had were improper install or stitching just worn out and rotted allowing leaks. I've never had a soft top that was out on correctly and in good shape leak.

I have a 2012 2 door and purchased a soft top from an 08 ... put it on and luckily for me it fits like a glove. Has not leaked, not even one little drip. I consider myself extremely lucky.

The no leaks is on top of the fact that I bought the soft top off Craigslist for only $100, which included all the hardware and the tinted windows.

If you don't expect your jeep to be water proof, then leaks dont matter 😝 In all seriousness, it'll leak even if you get it fixed 100 times, its not well sealed and its a cheap design. It was never ment to have a perfect seal. Enjoy the leaks during the hard rains!

2010 and 2012, both 2 door, no leaks on either with soft top or hard top, rain, snow, car wash, all OK....so far! I do believe I've just jinxed myself, DOH!
On my '95 YJ, yup, soft top leaked on the sides and doors, hardtop OK if I put it on right and tightened it down carefully but, that Jeep was a whole different animal compared to the other two.

There are some foam pieces and gaskets that can wear out or get out of place. I had a leak on my '10 JKU. Tracked it down & there was a piece of foam out of place. Put it back & haven't had an issue since. Knock on wood!

I never had a leak on my 2012 until one storm a few months back. Foudn a puddle of water under the passenger rear seat. I took the soft top down, but it back up and took more care to make sure it was seated properly. In similar storm just recently I checked for leaks, and nothing!

Sounds to me like you have a very simple problem. Door might be out of adjustment or top is not seating well into the door frame.

No leaks so far on my 2012... Just the annoying runoff from the top right onto the inner doorsill when you open the door.... Surprised the haven't fixed that yet

I have a 2012 New Trek top NX for my 2012 JKU and it leaks on the passengers side by the windshield and door. It drives me CRAZZZZYYYY!!!.. They just sent me another set of the foam pieces that came with the top so I'm going to put them on top of the ones that are already on. Hopefully that helps. I borrowed a friend of mine trek top last year and had no issues with hers. Hopefully those extra foam stickers will solve the problem but I doubt it...

Bought my jeep used. Soft top leaked the first time i put it on where the windshield meets the door on both sides. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the header seal and some of the foam on the header bar of the soft top. Hasnt leaked since which is surprising. I also think it takes some time for the seals to adjust (expand/shrink) from hard top to soft top as well as cold to warm weather so there is some room for error there as well. The only place mine leaks is the bottom of the passenger side door which seems to be a common area. Not related to soft top however.

That's exactly where mine is leaking. Hopefully those extra foam pieces will work.

Its been raining all day today here and my 2013 JK with the factory soft top has not leaked a drop anywhere. If yours does, i would deffinatly take it to the dealer and get the top fixed or replaced.
