I am a tad over 200 pounds (and by a tad I mean a lot) and they are rock solid. I even use them to brace myself while I stand on the doorsill to dry the roof after washing the Jeep. Doing this I'm sure I am putting more stress on them than just using them to get in and they are still solid.
Yeah I've got them, definitely worth EVERY penny. Insanely sturdy and the paint is awesome too. Just be careful taking out the stock side bolt when you install them, it can fall between the frame and the plastic corner. Found that out haha!
The GraBars were very sturdy when we put them on our company Jeep. The debate over whether or not they're a danger in an accident always comes up when people ask about them, but one thing is for sure, they're solid.
If you decide to give them a try let me know and I'll get you a great price!

My 1st up grade. and there far enough out of the way. That said, if your strapped in, your good to go. if not, then you've got more to worry about if in an accident, then a possible knock on the noggin from the upper most left corner of the vehicle.
I was on a crash once where a screwdriver that was probably just laying around in the cab of the pickup truck apparently stuck into the driver's noggin.
Everything that was supposed to be on the inside was on the outside.
I've had them on for a couple weeks. They are NOT going anywhere. Rock solid when you haul yourself up on them (I only weigh 180 -- alright, 185 dammit) but these are surprisingly stout once you get them screwed in.
I could never really use those trapeze hangers that came with the Jeep -- they were in the wrong place to get leverage plus they swing back and forth when you pull on them. These are perfectly positioned to left-hand them and then swing your bulk up into the seat. I'm only lifted 2" so I don't really need them that much, but after a big dinner they do come in handy!
Once you install them, just check the bolts 30 days later. Mike's needed to be re tightened, but mine didn't. Maybe he just didn't eat his Wheaties that day. :rofl2:
I put these on a few years ago and am very pleased. As noted by everyone who has them....they are built like a tank! I am 6/4" and never liked the way the straps hung from the roll bar in my field of vision. I refused to spend the $$ on these until I checked them out on another jeep in person and I was immediately sold(also makes a great go pro mount)...I didn't care for the regular grips though and found some that are much better. They are the only mountain bike grips I could find that best fit the diameter of the steel. They are from esigrips.com and called extra chunky. They are super soft, waterproof, and come in several colors. You can buy them locally, website, amazon, etc. I think I paid 15 bucks for the grips. Good Stuff!:worthy:
They sound great. One thing I'm concerned with. They look like they allow the visor to drop down but do they allow the visor to swing out to the side window?

Getting ready to pull the trigger on these (what would a week be like without UPS showing up ) Have a JKU, anybody have set(s) front and rear?
Thoughts?
We have a friend who has both front and rear and the rears seem just as solid as the fronts.
Our kids are just old enough to climb in easily, but still young enough not to need the boost, so we just went with the fronts. If you've got kids young enough that they can't reach up to the top of the door frame, you may want to skip the rears and get a set of the grab handles that attach to the headrest, since that's about a foot lower.
If you're looking for adults climbing in the back that need the extra support I wouldn't hesitate to get the rears.
I have them and I am a very big boy, very solid, and I have never hit my head, and I'm 6' 2". My wife loves them, she uses them all the time to climb in and out. Well made and very sturdy. Worth the extra costs, IMHO...

Sweet. Thanks Star, Thank God the "kids" are in College.... well if he was paying the tuition bills I'd thank him saw some of your build thread (I'm Scottish) and have a Celtic Cross (Trinity) on the rear window of my Porsche (Black/Black) Cool that you cleave to your heritage (Salute)
Thank you! I love my Celticon and was really happy with the way the theme came together. I'm always thinking about what else I can add to it.
I wasn't sure how old your kids were, and I remembered your post about your nephew and thought he was nine, so I figured I'd throw it out there for you.
Just installed them the other day. You can shake the Jeep by the handles. Were a pain in the butt to install though. The instructions says to install the short spacer first. But I could not get the bolts lined up that way. So I installed the long spacer first and everything worked fine.
Just watch the gap below the screw. When you are removing the oem screw there is a hole below it that doesn't really look like a hole but you can lose a bolt or one of the ratchets down there. Before removing oem bolt, put your finger below it and you'll see what i mean.
Also, the drivers side went in like butter. The passenger side was a pain in the a$$, it took me 45 minutes on that side because the upper screw would not go all the way in. I removed it several times and could not get it to screw all the way in. It sticks out about 1/2 inch now but is very sturdy, still can't figure out what the problem is , maybe missized screw.
