Yes, I meant the dash. Just used to speakers being in the doors so I typed doors out of habit Sorry about that.

Thanks for the help on the speakers. That is definitely the first upgrade I want to do to my Jeep.

Thanks BB,

When I got the Rubi it was a replacement vehicle for one that Chrysler bought back from me. When they said that it came with a nav system I just said OK. It was a Rubicon Unlimited, the color I wanted, a standard, and had the tow package. Those were my main requirements. So the sound system upgrade was an aside. I didn't really pay attention to it but what you said sounds familiar that I was told that it had by the salesman. Now that I have it, I have to say that the sound that comes out is way better than my Sahara Unlimited was. That is why I'm not in the upgrading mode.....yet.

JK'N!

I had looked at Upgrading with the Infinity System through the Dealer. They wanted a ridiculous price for the Upgrade. I went Aftermarket, at a lower cost, and am extremely happy with mine too.

Your system is a great setup, and I wouldn't worry about upgrading anything on it. Perfect right out of the box!

Cheers!

My 2010 JK is completely stock, w/the exception of a spare tire cover. I ordered a trailer hitch cover three weeks ago and still no cover? I envy those who make their Jeep their own, by adding mods. I mod the heck out of my bikes, though...

Rsteven is correct, the Jeep is like a H-D, that is a great basis for modding.

I luv my Jeep. I'll keep the Jeep stock, as it is strictly a summer (vert)/inclement weather (snow or 4-WD) vehicle. I consider the Jeep to be my safe/comfortable motorcycle

Best,

BB

As I understand it, replacing those front dash speakers is a pain in the rear, and better left to an installer where you purchase your sound equipment from. The Overheads and tweeters are supposedly cake.

I suppose it depends on the Mechanical Ability of the individual. Here's a PDF that shows installation of the Front and Soundbar Speakers. Refer to Pages 20-23 for the Wrangler:

Wrangler Speaker Install (Link)

BTW... I had Best Buy install mine!

Cheers!

Ya, what Blackbeard said. Lots of small changes, still looks stock except for winch.

p.s. Blackbeard, some day you will have have to change your user's name to "Graybeard". Ask me how I know...

Just picked up my "New" to me 07 on Saturday. I'm going to have a while before I pay it off and have extra money to do any major mods. My plan is to Upgrade as I go. If it breaks or needs replacesd I might just upgrade. It will need new tires soon so that is the first thing I'm saving up for. I'm more interested with the sound upgrades now that you guys got me thinking about that. I am also considering putting a cargo rack on sometime in the future. I'm going to be doind some trips back and forth from Tampa, FL to Ohio over the next few years and would really like the extra cargo room. I guess i'll have to wait and see what actually happans and how much money I'll Have available to me.

While Ive only had my JK for 2 months, I have no real plans to make drastic changes. Is it the same as when I bought it? No. Ive added a nav system because my wife does drive it on occasion, (We own 25 acres and shed get lost on our property without the nav system.) and Ive added a serious alarm system, because I wish to deter removal of any guns or cameras I travel with.

What I plan on doing eventually:
  • When needed, I will replace my stock tires with a bit more aggressive tire. May go a little wider.
  • Depending on the trails I visit, I may go with a smallish lift, but if I can make it through without, no lift.
  • Lights will be added when I feel the urge. May replace the stock headlights or add auxilary lights. Depends on what my research tells me.
  • May do a power upgrade once my mechanic tells me the cost. While not unhappy with the JKs performance, I went from a Hemi powered Grand Cherokee to the JK and I miss the occasional power kick when passing.

Things that I have done already, like floor mats, the alarm system and the nav/stereo system are not mods in my opinion, just quality of life things that I require in all my vehicles.

Mine's an '07 Unlimited Sahara. It's got some of the usual MOPAR accessories, floor mats, grab handles, mud flaps, spare tire cover etc. The only thing I've changed is the headlights. I went for the IPF lights (see worst headlights ever thread). I doubt I'll ever put a lift kit in it until I retire (daily driver w/6' garage height limit) and then like some others have said it's not really necessary unless you're doing some serious off roading, rock crawling etc. Mine's also got the Mygig/Nav option so there's no need for a stereo upgrade (just yet). I'd rather spend my play money on my boat project or my IROC (which needs a lot of work). Other than the head lights this thing is fun to drive right out of the box..... Enjoy yours.

First off, congrats on the jeep. Mine is completely stock. Here is the deal though. Just because it is stock, don't be afraid to take that baby off-road. The best thing about jeeps is that they don't need to be modified to handle steep climbs or rough terrain. That is what they are built for. If jeeps needed to be modified to go off-road, we'd all just by regular cheap trucks and jack'em' up. Jeeps are awesome. I was suprised when I first took mine out at how capable the thing was. Mods can make the jeep even better, but they are not needed for casual off-roading.

08 2dr Rubi. Lovin it bone stock at this point. Really hesitating on lifting since because of the great ride and drive. If I do anything it will be a small BB and some 33's.

I said something similar at first too.

Let me warn you, 33's are like a gateway drug.

stock save for a few extras like step/rails, mats, corner armor, taillight guards. I definitely will be upgrading the stock lights though....they suck.

Doesn't the 35's just dog the hell out of the v-6??? I would think that it would make the 2dr ride like crap with the shorty wheel base. I wish I could drive a 2dr with 35's before making the commitment.

My JK became a real pleasure to drive on the freeway-AFTER- the 33" inst'l

By going up, over an inch in diameter, my toe-in was increased and now there's no "hunt" at 70 mph and the Hankooks ride a lot better than the BFG's did

I don't notice any real loss of power, with my 4:10 gears, I just have to be a little more "AWARE" of the OD button

My 2007 Sahara is as delivered from factory door. I do use winter mats front and rear even in Arizona. It also has a portable satellite radio dock for non-commercial tunes. 23K miles driven and 5K miles towed behind motor home. I heart my Jeep.

I'm a firm believer in gearing to match tire size (especially for auto-trans).
And as Jimbo said, different tires make a significant difference as well.

My buddy is on 35's and has no complaints at all; I'm looking here for a photo of his Jeep and can only find this one with our wives in the foreground:

My 07 Sahara is still stock. I bought it to pull behind my motorhome. It's light-weight
and easy to tow. Plus, Once I get parked I can take it anywhere, Beach, off road, or
to the Grocery store. I can have a convertable, or I can leave the top on during bad weather. It's just an all around winner.

Stock

I have a 09 2dr Rubicon, with a skyjacker 2" coil spacer lift everything else is stock, had alignment done after spacer lift, no track bar bracket needed, will get teraflex shock extensions soon since the stock shocks are gas tuned, but drives like it did off the lot, love it
