I have 2.5 RE coil lift. after it was lifted it had a pull to the right. Shop said nothing about lift could cause it. They disconnected the new steering stabilzer and swapped tires around and it still pulled. I took and had alignment checked and toe was good caster was about 3 which I have been told was a little low. I called RE today and they said most jeeps when lifted pulls to right because it amplifies what is built in already which I was also told by alignment tech that since 2002 vehicles has to be made so that if you fall asleep at the wheel they will drift off to right. He said if you let go of steering they will hol straight for a little ways but than will drift to right. Anyone with any knowledge about this? That can verify this.
First time I ever heard that and I used to be an auto mechanic performing alignments back in the late 90s. Remember, most roads have an arch (high center then tapers down) in them for water run off. This means they slope to the right. I could be wrong, but this slope is built in for asphalt roads. I believe concrete roads are built level.
If it didn't pull right before the left, then something is off that changed it afterwards. You already had this checked, but my best guesses are the toe settings and tires. I can't see just a lift causing it. Good luck, I hope you resolve the issue.
here it is and just a note toe is measured on here as inches not degrees. He said it was 9 but when he tightened every thing down it changed to 8 but that was still good
My JKUHR started pulling left after a lift (and tire change). I was told a possible radial tire pull (I figured alignment). My dealer put it on the alignment rack and it was dead on, and gave me the sheet. He then swapped front and rear tires and BAM, pull is gone.
I would've bet $1,000 that the alignment was the cause but it was not haha. Glad I didn't offer the bet!!!
The road naturally crowns to the right. I'm sure the low caster is not helping.
I would also experiment with toe. Bring it in to 1/8
I tried 0 all the way to 1/4". At 0 (tires straight ahead), the jeep had the same feeling of low caster angle.
Mine pulled to the right after installing the AEV 2.5 with stock BFG KM2's. It was that way for a few months, but started tracking straight after installing 1.5 wheel spacers. I don't know why it worked but it did. Hopefully it doesn't return after I ditch the spacers when I get new wheels.
mine doesn't pull to the right, per se. if i let go of the wheel, i don't go veering off the road. however, my steering wheel is at a near constant "11 o'clock" position to keep it straight. A non-existent attribute prior to lifting and adding 35"s.
Stupid question. Did the shop loosen all the control arms and retighten? When I installed new springs on mine, I skipped that step. There was a noticeable increase in the pull to right. Once I went back and loosened the control arms and retightened, it was much closer to stock.
I see 2 torque recommendations in one post it says uppers are 75 ft lb and another says front uppers are 75ft lb. Is it 75 on front bolt and 125 on rear bolt on the upper and 125 on front and rear bolt on lower or is it 75 on front and rear bolt of upper?
Thanks for the info. Been sitting on the box of shouldered bolts for over a year. More incentive to switch them out now
