I'm pretty sure HSA is standard on all the JKs starting from 2007. It's even on the autos.

I've got HSA and hate it. I disabled it the first day I got the jeep. I guess some people like/need it. But I find it a waste of time. Just my .0002

Love my 6 speed. Wouldn't ever trade it for an auto.

Also disabled HSA. Much better that way.

My problem is that when I drive the car or the truck, which are both autos, I forget to put it in park when I shut it off.

Automatics in jeeps were the worst thing in the world! Until I got one in my new JK! Love it!

I LOVE the 6 speed in my '13 but I HATE the HSA. How do you disable it. HSA on a Jeep is like having the gutter bumpers on a bowling lane.

This is what I did. It took me a few tries before I got it right.

To turn off Hill Start Assist:

*Engine off, auto in P. Manual in N, clutch out, parking brake on, wheels straight.

*Start engine.
*Engine running, brake applied, clutch out, rotate steering wheel 180º counterclockwise from center (and leave it there).
*Press ESC OFF switch 4 times within 20 seconds.
*Rotate steering wheel 360º clockwise.
*Turn ignition switch OFF, then ON.
*If done properly, the “ESC Activation/Malfunction light” will blink several times to show that HSA is off.
*Steps above must be completed within 90 seconds to turn off HSA. To turn back on, repeat steps 1-7.

My first jeep was a manual and I miss it some but once I hit the rocks I remember how much better an auto is for everything but deep mud.

you can turn HSA off in the dash if you have the EVIC (connectivity package)
