Anyone regret their choice of matching body colored fender flares and top???

Currently own a sport and have been offered $30,000 trade for my Jeep and new one for 1% under invoice and no dealer fee. Considering matching top and fender flares. Any pros, cons, regrets? Are the flares easily door dinged? Do the Freedom panels easily chip? I know it's a Jeep but I'd still like to keep it looking good. The advantage I see with the Sport flares is they are likely more durable and resistant to door dings and rock chips, etc. The body colored top and flares just look so sharp in my opinion. I'm usually practical but with the offer I was made, it's got me thinking. I'd like to hear everyone's views and the 2 colors I am considering are bright white and billet silver. Thanks in advance for those who choose to offer productive and helpful comments/opinions.

I have black on black color match. I love it, looks real classy. I dose take away from the Jeep look; but you get it back in the Summer when you change to soft top. People thinks its a new vehicle. It is also more delicate. The fender has no flexibilty and will present hairline cracks if you bend. You have to be very careful when handling the freedom tops, so not to scratch. All in all, still worth it.

I have a white on white on white 2014 Sahara. I was really torn when ordering because I originally only wanted black fenders (seemed more Jeepish). I know there are pros and cons to both, but what swayed me in the end was the fade factor in the Florida sun. I only go off road occasionally but I'm always in the sun, so the white top and fenders fit the bill. In the end I'm very happy with the choice and I'm finding that the white is fairly forgiving with splatter. I like a clean ride during the week and from a few yards away it always looks good.
One early concern was that the fenders and grill kept getting what looked like yellow stains from bugs and tree droppings. The first week I could not get them out of the paint with anything. It was really weird, but even stranger is that they disappear on their own after about a week. Not sure what that's all about but I'm not have anymore issues with it now.

I have the white body colored top n fenders. The top I like. The fenders not so much now. Where I live its a mile of gravel to pavement, my rear fenders are chipped real bad. The front part gets the beating. I probably wont get painted fenders again

I absolutely 100% regret not getting a colored hard top. I have the colored fenders. Doing it aftermarket requires a new top because the textured black top won't look nice painted. So, if this is something you really want, make sure you don't skip out on it.

I had a Black Sahara and now have a Red Sahara. I opted out on the body colored hardtop. I am not very ambitious on getting out a ladder to wash and wax the top of the hard top. Geese fly around crapping on cars up here and I didn't feel like contending with with summer-cooked or winter-frozen goose poop on my hard top. The standard hard top sheds that stuff better IMHO.

I do like the body color fenders and don't find them too tough to care for nor easily damaged. A small bottle of touch up paint fixes scratches and paint can be buffed or polished to blend in very well. Black molded fenders eventually fade if you don't stay on them and can really cheapen the look of the vehicle if/when they go bad. My TJ did this despite my spending quite a few dollars and many hours over the years on various protection chemicals and the application thereof. I've never trusted black molded fenders again. However, I think black molded fenders look better than body color fenders when they are still new and looking good.

Not at all. I think ours looks really nice with color matching panels, especially right after we've detailed it. Since ours will never get the tires dirty from going off-road we're not too concerned with it getting scratched by brush, etc., on the trail.

I've got an all-white 2014 JKUR as I really like the body-colored look especially the top.

The front faces of the rear fenders got rock chipped before I was able to put on my LoD rock rails which would have helped reduce the rocks.

It's unfortunate but there are so many fender options including repainting white or black or replacing them. I'm sure I can get black fenders cheap as take-offs.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat because I love the look of the body colored top (and fenders) and I hate the faded look of the black.

Nope, not one bit of regret.

I love the look, and certain colors just look relly good with painted fenders and matching top.

If I spent more time off-roading or lived where there was a lot of gravel....I would have probably passed on them (at least the fenders anyway).

One more thing..the Sahara side steps help to keep the rock chips down as well.

Same sentiment here, on all counts.

There hasn't been such a statement in this thread yet, but I chuckle when I read a post that essentially says, "It's not a real Jeep unless it has black fenders!"

The original Jeeps had painted fenders, kids.

Love my color matched top but the rear fenders do take a beating if you spend any time in gravel. My rears are beat to pieces with only 14K miles.

I chose a nicely equipped Sport over a Sahara partly because I did NOT like the painted flares in Billet Silver. I have no regrets.

When I had mine with painted tops I loved it. I went with a 2014 rubi x with soft top this time. The painted tops seemed to stay cooler on the top of your head in the hot southern summers as well. I never had any problems with them chipping.

Fenders will chip and get dinged.... I was at a concert... some ladey opened her door hard on my rear fender... while I was sitting there... I guarantee it would of chipped if it was painted

I like the top as it changes the look depending on having the top on or soft tops on. Plus I like the look of the matched top. Fenders, I like black, plus they may come off sometime if you decide to go aftermarket.

I did not get the color match and I am so glad that I didn't. It's been 11 months of wheeling 2-3 times a month and I am pretty aggressive. I really want to know it's full capabilities. I've already put in a few scratches and a pretty serious scar on the rear of the HT lifting it off the Jeep in my garage. I little dose of flat black and no worries. I want to eventually linner the whole HT with a nice flat black. Probably linnex. It'll be about $400-500. Plenty of scratches from just playing with the freedoms.
For me color match is bad because I know I will scratch it up wheeling. How will you wheel? Trees scratching? Leaving the HT on fulltime mostly?

I love the look of it on certain colors, like Billet. Looks very classy. The white looks really nice too, but it definitely has a very street-truck appearance.

It looks awful to me with other colors. I have a Commando sport and like the color, but its too much with the painted top and flares. Some of the weirder colors look better where there is a little less of them.

^Yup...more "muted" colors pull it off better.

It also depends on if you are talking about a 2 door or a 4 door.

I really like Dozer, but a 4 door with painted tops and fenders in Dozer looks like a school bus. It is one of those colors where black fenders and top look better and more rugged. Gecko, Crush, Rock Lobster, etc.... Those colors look better with black IMO.

On the flip side, I think Sahara Tan looks best as a 4 door with a painted top and fenders.

I also like painted to match. Figured the black would fade-out too. So far no problems, happy Jeeper.

X2 Just driving on forest roads the fenders chipped real easy. This go around I got the matching hard top with black fenders. The black fenders flow well with black bumpers and black rock sliders so still looks good. I will never get painted fenders again.

Billet silver with matching top and fenders. We would not even consider black when we were buying.

That is just because it was hard to ever get enough of that color. Defintely still my favorite color!

TOTALLY agree. There is a customized Unlimited around here: Gecko top, fenders, and AEV bumpers. Definately too much of a good thing. IMO the bright colors are less classy, but more "fun" and care-free. They seem to do better in less qualtities. But the luxurious colors like DCR or Billet look awesome in color matched fenders and top.

Our DCR Sahara had color matched fenders and top and our DCR Rubicon also has matched fenders and top and like others have mentioned the fenders do seem to attract the rocks but I have no regrets. I have the TF rails so they help prevent some of the rocks but after 28k and plenty of rock and mud trails the fenders still look good.

I love the look of the body colored hardtop and matching fenders, however I would recommend if you are going to go with that look having the front part of the rear flares paint protected with clear bra.

If you are doing it right you'll replace the factory flares with steel ones anyhow!

I wish I would have gotten the painted roof, my white Sahara with its black top gets really hot in the summer. I think if it was white it would not heat up as much.

I was originally in the whole "those painted tops aren't jeeps!" Camp. Only problem as you can tell from my pics is that mine has so much black and white it kinda looks like a big panda. But who doesn't love a panda.

Anyways there are some sick rigs on this forum with painted tops. I would love a white color match rubi.

My theory is this : color match with lift and mods looks great , color match stock everything - not a fan at all

I've heard some anecdotal tales of the paint on those tops not being durable but hell I've got chips and scratches on my regular ht
