Anyone run Chrome Wheels on their JK?

It seems most like black wheels on their JK's now... just wondering if anyone still likes chrome. I lean towards black as well, but I like SS or chrome centercaps/lugs or something in contrast to the black wheel...

I have put chrome wheels on pickups and cars in the past, not sure how good they'd look on a JK.

Anyone run chrome?

Feel free to post pics of your chrome wheels (if anyone has them) on your JK. I'd like to see how they look, is all.

Never cared for black wheels especially on my black JK. For me now, its function over form.
Unless the jeep is 100% street, I wouldn't want to destroy a pretty chrome wheel.

How about a 2 tone. Like these Black rock vipers ?

Black with a machines finish. Very nice looking wheel. I ran the Tungsten vipers before my current ZX's

I saw a used JK on a lot here recently... it had all the chrome stuff on it, wheels/fuel door/door latches/hood latches/steps/tailight guards, etc and it looked interesting. Didn't think it was "me" but as a 'street only' Jeep it was cool. Again, I doubt I'd be that flashy but someone really liked that bling look.

Chrome looks good on a white, or Black JK, but only if you are a Mall Crawler.
I seen a all Black 4 DR Rubicon and he had everything chromed hinges, mirror's, wheels, bumper, brush guard, grill, fuel cap and it was very interesting to look at, a real eye catcher!
I am not into chrome.

I think that chrome used well can look awesome, but it's very easy to overuse and look tacky. When I replace the wheels on my black JKU I want to use something like the one in kjeeper's post - chrome used as a highlight rather than the main theme.

I strongly agree. Think we're on the same page. I saw some machined/clear coated aluminum wheels and thought they looked great. Not as flashy as chrome but nicer than the silver aluminum that many people have.

I wouldn't off road with chrome... not all JK'rs off road, therefore I thought some would run chrome. Guy across the street never had his freedom top off, ever :nonono: let alone off road his Sahara.

Usually even the guys that don't wheel at least want their rig to LOOK like they do, so they modify accordingly. Personally, chrome isn't my style, but if you like it, that's all that matters. I would probably recommend a polished wheel rather than chrome. At least if you scratch them, you'll be able to polish it out, and not worry about having the wheel re-dipped.

I like something similar to this... chrome or machined accents to a black wheel or vice/versa, think they'd look great on my Black JKU:
American Racing Fuel Black Machined

The wheels I have come in a similar color scheme too

Black, polished, chrome who cares,it's personal taste or what it came with and if its your Jk you can do what ever you want to your jeep. I have shiny wheels and that's that. If anyone wants to buy me some black rims I'll thick about putting them on. Till then 😎smile and go get them dirty

I'm not judging, I want to see the chrome and shiny ones if anyone's running them. JK looks great in most aftermarket wheels/tires in my opinion. It's nice to see what other people have decided to get.

You have to be restrained adding chrome to any vehicle, or it will end up looking like a fishing lure...

This pic I found is similar to the one on the lot I saw, (except for the door/hood latches):

I'll be getting my chrome MT Classic II's next week. I'll post pics after the install.

Who's running Chrome/Polished/Machined (Bright) Wheels on your JK?

Guess I'll amend the thread title ^

What do you guys think about Machined and Clearcoated wheels? I'm liking the Black Rock Machined Yuma with black center cap:

Not chrome, but I think the machined/clearcoated wheel would be more durable?

yes, BUT MAKE SURE they are some how clear coated.. The wheels on my Harley are black and machined NOT CLEAR COATED and they look like crap after 10,000 miles... and i clean my bike pretty regularly.

The other thing about wheels with 2 different finished is that cleaners for one finsh might not be good for cleaning the another finish...

I run chrome on mine. Gives it nice pop. I also wheel with it. I have had chrome on a previous 4x4 pickup. I don't do huge rock crawling but I do get deep into the outback. I think I got more damage on my wheels from things like winter road salts than wheeling. Previous wheels didn't start looking real bad until they were at least 10 years old at which point they were kind of dated. I and should have been replaced anyway.

I like old yeller there . Last year Pro-comp had some prototype painted rims that were interesting Cosmo blue , crush , flame red , gecko green I think that would be cool

Sooo if you don't touch them up you are doing something wrong?

I think a jeep looks better with a scratched up ring on it. That is just me though,

Can't say I have ever had someone tell me how much uglier the scratches in my rims made them look.

I agree...most of the time. But with only 8000 miles I've done a pretty good job of knicking and scratching- don't want it to be a total POS at the end of my five year loan.
I can't tell you for sure OP- but pretty sure my buddy has the same wheels you have in the pic. And he wheels- hard. They still look pretty good.

Those look great! I have an identical vehicle too. What is the brand and price you paid?

Good to know. Machined wheels with clearcoat are pretty durable then... :punk:
