Anyone tried the Sway Bar Ground Clearance Kit?

Has anyone tried this kit? It very simply lifts your sway bar motor on Rubicons up 1 3/4" and only costs about $20. Very simple install. Seems like a great inexpensive way to get that expensive motor further up and out of the way.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this or not and can comment on it?

I've got it on mine.

Since you've got a '12 there's a minor difference in the work.

There is no airflow shield to cut like the instructions show.

The other thing is there's a power steering hard line that runs along the bottom of the radiator that needs bent a little to prevent rubbing. It can be done by hand.

Other than that it works as advertised.

Thanks for the pictures...So it sounds like it's actually even easier to do with a '12 then...

I was planning on doing this at the same time I installed a new bumper. Do you think it's worth doing after having it?

I posted this up in my build thread also, but it seems like a good idea to post here too.

I encountered some issues installing the Metalcloak bolt. I quickly discovered mine isn't like the layout shown in the videos. I don't have a plastic cover to trim, rather I have a hard line. I didn't realize it was for the power steering until reading your post.

It's okay to simply bend that line enough to make clearance for the plug?

Here's the picture of mine showing the interference between the plug and hard line. It looks like I'll need to bend it quite a bit. How robust is that line?

I'll go ahead and update this thread for posterity's sake. Maybe someone will arrive at this problem in the future.

I went ahead and did as Cruise_missle suggested and put a slight curve in the hard line. I now have enough clearance to be comfortable.

Note this is for a 2013 JKUR.

Search....DIY takes 10 min to do and costs just about free!

Didnt cost me a thing. I reused the stock hardware. Theyre is plenty of writeups on this. You can change the bolt if it makes you feel better, or spend the 20 bucks, but I can tell you I didnt buy anything to flip mine.

I'm curious how the motor works. Does anyone have a photo of the insides of one? is the sway bar two pieces and joined in the motor housing? The only thing that worries me about this mod is the turning of the motor housing, do the gears realign themselves?

^ That's the way I've seen it explained. It would be nice to see a cutaway or a dissected motor though.

I've disconnected just fine after doing the mod.

I can't see how our e-disco would work better than actual disconnects.
The only advantage I see from the E-disco is convenience. Rather than crawling under the jeep and disconnecting manually, you can do it from inside with a push of a button. Mechanically, it's safer to disconnect manually, less chanc for things to go wrong. I have seen rub icons at full flex while E-Disco'ed have their sway bay wrap around the wrong way. The tolerance are so tight at that point that its literally a 50/50 chance it could flip around. By fully disconnecting manually there's no chance of that happening.

If it's under warranty, does it matter?
The warranty only exists for manufacturers defect. So if you maliciously damage the jeep by off roaring, they can choose not to cover it.

Last time I was in the dealer some guy broke his oil pan off road and wanted it covered under warranty. They said "umm..no". It's the same type of deal

Subscribed.

I went out last night to put the skid row front skid on my Rubicon and noticed it didn't really seem to "work".

I came back in, went to their site, and noticed there's a Rubicon skid just for the e-disco tech. Now I have to send the skid row skid back to q-tec. Should have been more careful ordering.

I do need to move or protect that damn thing.

I rotated my edisco with the synergy relocation bolt. Then I was able to use the normal skid row plate, works great.
