Anyone try a double motorcycle carrier on Unltd JK?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has tried a double motorcycle carrier on their 4 door JK. Ive been using a MotoTote single dirtbike carrier for some time now with no probs whatsoever. I know the tongue is rated at 350lbs which is a little more than my dirtbike + the single carrier. But i also know that 350# is only 10% of the Unltd's towing capacity. Cant the tongue handle up to 15% of the towing capacity (i.e. 525#)? If so then I think I can swing it b/c my two dirtbikes + a dble carrier = 525# give or take 5#

Let me know what ya guys think. Oh and btw I have a 2.5" TF spacer lift.

One last ? IF this were to be to strenuous on the susp/frame/etc what do you guys think would be the first thing to cause me problems? Would it be the susp that would take a dump first?

Thanks for the help!

Suspension...if the tow hardware doesn't torque right off your rear bumper.

I don't think I'd want to chance 2 bikes on a setup like that when you factor in ROAD BUMPS.

I'd be trailer shopping if I were you.

If you did try the carrier, you'd want the heaviest bike closest to the Jeep also.

Just my 2 cents.

And id want a carrier that positions the bikes closest together right? Id want as much weight closest to the jeep, as opposed to several feet away. If i did take the plunge...

Don't do it! I wouldn't even use a hitch to carry two dirtbikes behind a HD pickup. Most are only made for 500lbs as mentioned, and the suspension of the Jeep isn't made for that much weight, plus the torque from being a foot or more behind the Jeep. You can get a trailer for pretty cheap. I have the HD Harbor Freight Trailor I paid $300 for, plus some hardware and wood, so about $350 total plus registration and plate for it. I had a 25% coupon when I bought it btw. You can find 20% off all the time though. And you can get the cheaper versions of the trailer, I just wanted the over 1700lb weight capability.

I'd be worried about the rear sagging and causing the front end to lift up when you hit a bump.

I have a trailer for when we all go riding (3 bikes and 2 atvs). The point was to not have to lug the monster trailer around when its just the 2 of us (which is much more often than all of us going). I wish there was a way to strengthen the tongue somehow. I saw some SUV forums talking about replacing the stock bolts and hardware with some heavy duty hardware. Supposedly it increased their max tongue weight from around 550-600 to over 700! Is there anything we can do to our JKs?
