Anyone who has a gold coin should checkout MC new promo.

Since they are not doing it for the TJ guys I thought I would at least let you JK guys know about this deal.

Call MC and order a 2.5/3.5" DuroFlex kit from them and ship them a single one ounce gold coin and just pay shipping.

Not valid for CA residents though.

Wow not available in California...a one ounce Gold Eagle is going for $1600 and up at a quick glance on google. That saves you up to a few hundred bucks.

What happens when you send them a gold coin and they send you a fake back saying 'sorry, it's fake, no deal'?

Not worth the risk.

Or when you send the coin and they claim they never received it/box was empty/never even heard from you in the first place? Gold coins are cash. Never mail cash.

I wonder why the exception for California residents?

Does using term "adopt" open some sort of loophole for collecting sales tax across state lines? In other words bartering this for that?

Plus you need to call to place the order.. no internet transactions. The ground transactions are documented, but I wonder if you get a sales receipt...

Strange.

You have to send it certified mail as part of the deal.

The thing is they get a gold coin that is going to soar in value over the year so they make their money back and then some by sitting on them. It's a pretty clever way to accumulate gold and wait for the economy to collapse!

It's just marketing.

They won't ruin their rep by scamming people over $1600 bucks, not enough reward for the risk they would take.

Gold went flat back in April, big players and India jumped in and drove it back up a bit, but none of that matters to the guy who has a few coins and wants a lift eh?

You have to send it Registered Mail, not Certified....very big difference. As a former postal employee, you would not only lose your job, but face a very thorough investigation if a Registered piece of mail was missing/empty. I had two jewelers on my route, they got gold and diamonds constantly via Registered Mail......I guarded those parcels with my life
As to this promotion...MC are straight up good people, interesting promotion.....but do you really think they would risk their reputation screwing you out of ~$1600.
However, I did tell the wife I might send them a gold foil covered chocolate coin, without ordering a kit, see what they say/do.

If someone wants gold coins for future investment, this company should sell as many kits as they can and buy gold with their profits. I dont see any benefit of someone sending them a coin they purchased vs MC buying coins with the proceeds.

Unless of course there are JK owners that collect coins and bought them at lower values and would like to trade one for a MC lift - that would benefit both parties because the lift is marked up from actual labor and material costs. Cash, credit or gold coin.. at face value, paying with a gold coin wins.

There has to be some creative accounting scheme or tax loophole associated with this program. Why is California excluded?

Yes, buy cheap. A fun and interesting way to try and raise some capital. Or maybe they're going to put it into the gold paint they use on their kits...Can you get their stuff wthout the gold paint/powder coating? I don't like it.

But will it make someone want to buy or think twice before buying?

Yes it is ..

American Eagle

Which led me to this ...

Buying gold coins

If I was going this route, I'd rather use my American Express Gold ... it would add 1500 points to the 88,000 points I have now.

. They decoded your message. You just made a list. Congratulations.

Some states you have to pay tax on bullion/coins. Like here in NC. But a lot of states you don't. So maybe it's a sales tax issue for Cali.

I like the promo. Some times you want to unload coins and if your shopping for a lift this a great way to do that and save some money.

Us Mint still has 2013 gold Buffalos for around $1500. But, I wouldn't send those because those are too nice. Send them a crappy Canadian or China Panda coin.

Probably has something to do with the "Marketplace Fairness Act" ...

Senate Republicans dropped the ball on the Internet tax mandate | The Daily Caller

No internet transactions or sales taxes to collect.. simply trade a gold coin with $50 face value for a lift... the trade delivered via USPS. I'm sure somewhere in the mix there's a CPA advising how to avoid taxes and infrastructure costs for a small business based in California.

I can see a Wells Fargo stagecoach in the future running bags of gold coins to Nevada for sale and deposit.
