AR-15 mount

Looking for a way to mount my M&P-15 in my 2011.

Prefer one behind rear seat and a vertical dash mount on pass side.

Thanks in advance.

There is a company out of Texas (pretty sure it's East texas) that makes a very nice and sturdy mount. IIRC, they make it for barrel up or down.
I don't know the name of the company, but a Google search should turn them up.
Sorry I can't remember more, but hope this helps get you pointed in a good direction.
If that doesn't work, talk to the guys who do the maintenance on your local police cars. They may have a good idea, or suggestion on where to get them.
Best of luck!

This is the company that had them, but they don't show them anymore.

Xtreme Outfitters - Kerrville, TX | Jeep & Truck Accessories

The mount they use to show, mounted on the floor at the back of the center console and went up to the roll bar. It held 2 rifles.

eta. If you watch this video it shows the rack I am talking about @ around 36:00. They start showing some mounts around 35:00.

I have considered, but not yet tried it, adding a set of tube doors then using a 4 wheeler single gun rack to hold mine on top of the door, in line with the jeep for when I am hog hunting at night. Any thoughts on that?

AR15/M16 Mount

This mount has been around for years for military vehicles and works well. You can come up with many different variations on the way you choose to attach the mounting hardware. You can buy them from a bunch of internet vendors.

Thanks guys for the help! Gave me several good ideas.

I will also ask our mechanic that works on my patrol car if he has any old mounts lol.

I have a 10.5" barrel on my rifle and I'd like to mount it vertical by the passenger dash, so I can access it quickly.

That will keep me busy til the next project, haha.

No help with the mount, but how do you like that S&W? I have been eyeing them and I'm looking at that, the Colt, or a custom built Rock River by my buddy.

So far it's been a great rifle. I have the sport version, added a true glo optic on it and also have a mega arms upper with 10.5" barrel.

I haven't put the new upper on yet. For the money, ($750 with optic and single point sling attachment,) I'm pleased with it.

We use the M&P-15's as a patrol rifle at work and haven't had any issues with them.

Yeah I have an M&P compact .40 and I love it, so I'm sure I would like the AR too. I've heard exactly what you said, it's a good bang for the buck. No pun.

I prefer mine to be more descrete, however I also have 3 Shepherds in the Jeep most of the time so i am well protected.

I do carry a 45 at all times and I have a a pistol grip shotgun which I just added a ATI stock to, that I have in the Jeep whenever I drive.

Next month I am going to set up another bug out bag and get a Eberlestock, one which I can carry and conceal my AR in, again I prefer it concealed, as do I with the shotgun. I would love to have a special mount if the windows were tinted deep enough.

Space is an issue with transporting (3) 100lb GSD's, so I am careful how I do just about everything.

I may consider a behind the front seat rack (cloth type), however the dog swim a lot so I have to consider the dampness.

Yeah mine is completely water proof... so dampness is not an issue.

Waiting on stamp, so I haven't mounted the upper yet.

I'm leaning towards a Big Sky mount, and install it overhead. I have one in the trunk of my patrol car.

We may have covered this, but what is the tactical advantage of having your assault rifle mounted like this?

Access. If you need it in a hurry, getting out the Jeep, walking to the back, opening the case, etc. is just not anywhere near as fast as simply grabbing the rifle out of the rack.
