Are all new JKs "Trail Rated"?

Are they all trail rated or what features make it trail rated?

Thanks!

It's just a gimmicky badge. The 2wd JKs didn't have the Trail Rated badge...but you can get a Compass with one...go figure

LOL
Well, some guy seemed impressed that my Jeep had the "Trail Rated"...

His comment was "Trail Rated, you lucky SOB"

So, now I'm wondering if he meant it or he was being sarcastic and i didn't know. In the context, I think he meant it, because I never mentioned trail rated. If I had mentioned it and then he said that comment, then I would take it as possibly being sarcastic. LOL

I'd be more impressed if they had a badge that said 'War Rated'.

There's no dumb question. The trail rated badge used to denote jeeps standards for approach and depart angles. Water depth.. all that. Not sure if it still applies but to the best of my knowledge it does.

To give an honest answer to an honest question:

The Trail rated badge was added to distinguish between 2X4 and 4X4 models.

Are you sure? My 06 has a trail rated badge and to my knowledge there wasn't a 2wd option back then.

They're on more than just Wranglers.

Ok I get it. My brain just has a hard time accepting the fact that 2 wheel drive jeeps exist.

Haha good catch. Stupid typos.

But no I'm divorced and my bag was about the only thing she didn't get, only because she hadn't seen it for so long and forgot where I kept it.

In Florida, you see many 4 door Wranglers that are 2 wheel drive. Bet you those are not "Trail Rated"...

Marthor, to answer your question

All wranglers now are trail rated (the exception was the two wheel drive models in 2007)

The badge means more on the "lower" Jeeps that in basic forms are not as capable. For example, some jeeps do not come with low range or skid plates - those are not trail rated.

In another example, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is not trail rated.

There is a lot of marketing with it like the guys said above - and I actually get a lot of sincere "oh nice, it's trail rated" comments. But there are in fact a lot of mechanical differences between trail rated and non-trail rated jeeps.

Trail rated doesn't necessarily mean they are all as capable as Rubicon wranglers. It's more relative to the other trim levels within the model range.

By brother in law had a non-trail rated Commander - no low range, no skid plates, it would not be good off road at all. Trail rated commanders have skid plates, low range, and some of the higher end ones had electronic limited slip differentials in the front and rear as well.

Some non-trail rated jeeps do not have the water proofing for water fording either. Some non-trail-rated have lower ground clearance. For example, the Patriot and Cherokee have higher factory ground clearance on trail rated models. The Cherokee has different bumpers for better approach angles on the trail rated model.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that it got the badge if the vehicle model made it through the Rubicon Trail during testing?

They take every vehicle out there....they even took the new Cherokee. So, I think it gets a "trail rated" badge if it finished the trail? Hopefully it fell off a cliff.

The trail rated badge should be used to cover the hole when you do the antenna delete.
