Here is the link one more time, you don't have to register, it will give you a price just put in your zip and pick your wrangler with the options you want. That price is everything but tag, tax and title. Notice how quickly the "GM of a sales office" replied about Zag when I posted it. They don't want you to know about it or are trying to discredit it.

American Express | Car Buying Home Page
Not only does the dealership not have to accept Zag, the Zag program is not giving you 3.5% below invoice as you claim. You might get 3.5% below MSRP, but not invoice.

I know, and we all know thats not what they paid for it, not even close. I've asked a family member, who owns a dealership, to do some research on how much they paid. He told me 18-19k at the most. I have gone to a few dealerships now, and they aren't willing to haggle at all! I'm talking the most i've gotten to is 500 dollars below invoice! I've had one salesman actually tell me theres no room with the wranglers, and they only make 500-600 per car sold, which is bullshit.

Does anyone know the actual numbers? How much is a fair price to pay? I figure 21k out the door is a good price.

Heres the kicker: My dad wants one too. We have walked into dealerships willing to negotiate to buy TWO, and they still wouldn't budge.
Just go to Edmonds.com or NADA.com to get msrp and invoice prices. There is a pretty low margin on Jeeps but you should
get 1-2% under invoice. The dealer gets a 3% holdback from Chrysler on ALL cars sold. Your family member that owns a
dealership doesn't have a clue if he thinks that there is a large margin on Jeeps. IT IS NOT BRAIN SURGERY.

I got a 2012 Jeep Sahara Unlimited for 3.5% below invoice. When you hit submit on the price, your nearest 3 dealerships that support ZAG show up. You fill out your contact information and they contact you. The dealerships that show up are on the ZAG network. Why are you guys attacking me for sharing info? I have nothing to gain here, I have used it and was just trying to help someone that had not bought a Jeep. My last post.

Hmmm . . . hey it's worth a try I guess. I am skeptical about a dealership that is moving Wranglers at a regular pace being willing to lose profit on one to one purchaser because . . . well why would they do it? If you did it Chachie I think that's great.

i shopped for a jeep for about a year going to all the different dealerships and trying to haggle on the price. i would wait then go back. i did this multiple times and they never budged. finally in the end i got the 2011 2dr auto sport package with all the extras sticker was 29000 got it for 27000 and i got them to throw in a soft top. that was the best i could get. the problem with jeeps is they dont worry about getting rid of them because they will sell eventually. if you think about it you dont see last years models sitting on the lot like you do with all the other cars. but if i were you i would jump on the 0% financing if they are still offering it. good luck

I just built the exact 12 I bought using the AE/Zag and the deal was better to use Affiliate Rewards by about $100. I don't doubt there are deals out there using this program, but on mine it did nothing for me. It was plenty easy to walk into the dealer, give them an AR number and be done with it.

Why does everyone want a 2011 or 2012?

I bought my 2007 with 35k on it July 12th.

Mint Condition Sahara, Dual Top 6 speed manual.

22k out the door.

I purchased a 2011 Wrangler Sport "S" 08/03/11 and I used the $1,000.00 for MOPAR goddies, ya I paid for them to the dealership, but it felt like they were free or at least part of the "deal".....Just MHO. I'm very happy and I;m sure you will be too......fantastic ride!
Unless you have an interest rate significantly below 2% you are better off taking the 0%. On the Sport I originally tried to buy, the 0% saved me almost $3000 over the life of the loan. There is no way $1000 is worth far more unless you put half the money down or can get your rate down to about 1.5%, or some combination of the two.

Because the used Sports around here are mostly trashed, the Rubis and Saharas are in the $20k-24k range and a brand new Sport with warranty and outfitted exactly like I want was only $25k.

But if your 08 was vaporized by communist aliens what would you be looking at to replace it?

If that were to happen, I'd probably checkout the jeep 2013s, before making any choices

I wouldn't want the 2012, with trouble in the 5spd auto/exhaust loop and auto cooler line across the bottom of the tranny-also wait for the AEVPM mods to accept the 2012 diff. gear changing-

I'd wanna see some changes in those attributes--first !

As happy as I am with my '08, I wouldn't buy another one, they're already 5 years old and the ECU systems were touchy when new---don't need old/used non warranty problems !!

Even with the employee plan and only the power convience package (because who needs more crap that is just gonna get ruined with mud) I still paid 22K for my 2011 JKU sport with hard top back in august.

I'm not trying to attack you. I'm just suggesting that your math is wrong or based on MSRP instead of invoice. What was your MSRP, invoice, and final Zag price? If you bought for 3.5% below invoice, I think you got the best price of anybody that has posted information about a 2012 purchase or you are a Chrysler employee and are eligible for the employee pricing which is a better deal. I know how the Zag program works, I've used it before. It is not 3.5% below invoice on a 2012 Jeep. You might have saved close to 3.5% on a 2011 with current incentives, but not a 2012. If you look at the quote below that was taken from this thread, Oilwell used Zag and it was less of a savings than the Affiliate Rewards program which is 1% below invoice. There are numerous posts of people saving 1-2 percent and even a couple that posted slightly better than 2% below invoice, but you are the only one that claims to have saved 3.5% below invoice.

It doesn't hurt to try all of your options to save some money, but I'm skeptical as well that any dealership is going to lose money on a 2012 and sell it at 3.5% below invoice.

Yeah, Chachie...the ZAG site doesn't even list the invoice on the vehicle -- it shows the MSRP. There's a huge difference.

As others have stated, the site is nice. Use it, use affiliate programs, and use your own bargaining prowess (if applicable) -- go with whatever gives you the best deal. I (personally) beat the best price listed on the ZAG site through simple bargaining with the dealer -- ended up at about 2% below invoice on a loaded JKU-R. Dealer was happy, I was happy...all good.

It does show invoice pricing for the options, but the overall price is based on savings off MSRP.

I went and tried it again and it shows invoice cost of the vehicle. The discount is based on the MSRP, but it shows invoice cost of the vehicle and options separately and then a total for vehicle+options.

I looked at ZAG and it was more expensive than the TL discount:

MSRP: $28,910
ZAG: $27,898 (3.5% off MSRP)
TL: 27,735 (1.0% off invoice + $75)

No brainer for me since very few dealerships in New England honor ZAG and TL was cheaper with no hassle.

I just went through the same thing, wanted the power from a 2012, but didn't want a first year engine...So I went with a 2011...couldn't be happier..Its a 2 door 6 speed..I think I got 3400 off sticker (1000 lease conquest rebate), I purchased it in late July...The Sales Manager at the dealer was great to work with.. DarCars, Silver Spring MD

I would look at truecar.com.. They are these buying service for USAA...The prices were great...Try different zip codes to see what the best priced dealer is. I did not end up using them because I wanted a base w/air and all of the dealers had wranglers with more options than I wanted..The price I paid was close, within a few hundred..Plus I got what I wanted and a color I like...

The only problem I have, my roof leaks...right side, front part of the door..

I was insistent on not having a first year engine too, then I found out it's not a first year engine. This is just the first year it's in the Wrangler.

Looks like the curve ball life tossed me might pay off. It has me thinking along the same lines as you. I'm probably going to hold off till this time next year, have the cash to buy it, and be more comfortable doing it. I hope they don't make any drastic changes, just tweaks.

Yea, I don't like the trouble they're having with the 5spd auto /computer control and the trouble AEV is having with the speedometer corrections, because of diff. gear changes--DILEMMA

There's no way the 3.6l has enough lowend torque for off-roading, with bigger tires so they're gonna have to have regearing possible and if you think your mileage can be that much better with the 5spd auto--BAM, it just hunts outta O/D into 4th gear, so----regearing is still gonna be the answer !!

They've also gotta do something with that exhaust loop, that sticks way down and the auto cooler line, that crosses right under the tranny---whatsup with that ??

Lookout 2013 !!we'll see

Two major things are sticking in my mind with the 2012. The AT downshifting at the slightest touch of the shifter, and the exhaust loop. Hard top leaks annoy me too, but..........

Maybe they'll offer a slate gray and dark blue. My fear is DI finds it way into the 3.6, and/or an 8 speed AT???????????????? I think I'd pass then. A 6 speed AT might be a plus!

I think if they wanted to they could tune the engine, change a cam, or possibly the pistons and rods to give it a bit more low end grunt? An engine builder would know better though.
