Australian Specs for the new Wrangler 2011

Thought I'd share the specs that are getting downunder for the 2011 range. This is the first of anything official that I've seen from Jeep Australia.
Y'all should take full note of the DIESEL option!!!!!!!
I have only just received this from a not so switched on dealer - I have ordered my CRD 6 weeks ago from another dealer who went the extra mile and was able to order what I wanted, even though it was technically not available.

I'm curious about the ratio change for the diesel auto from 3.73 to 3.21, and the transmission changes from 545RFE to a W5A580.

Anyone have any comments on this as my CRD JKU will be my first Jeep>

I too have the CRD diesel lump. If you have any questions, fire away.

I have no complaints with mine, good mpg, loads of torque and good for cruising along the motorway. I haven't yet been offroad but was superb in the recent snow we had although I doubt you will ever get to drive yours in snow.

very nice!!
all i ever think of when reading about the diesel jeeps is all the BS we're fed here as to why a diesel option is not available:
it won't pass emissions
we can't package it in the us spec engine bay properly
americans don't want diesels
to retrofit it now would cost too much money (when it's already put in the same model overseas)

..damn your eyes.....er.....I mean....nice choice there!!!!

I've longed for a diesel version in the US. Now that I've bought a gas Wrangler, I'm sure both the Pentastar AND the diesel will be out soon.

Aussie,

Looking over the specs it looks like you can only get an auto trans in diesel?? That's a bummer.

Has anyone actually had the chance to drive two similarly equipped JKs but with the two engines side-by-side? I'm curious as to the overall impressions of the performance differences.

Nah, he's already married a local. But her mum is Canadian - does that count???

The brochure may not show it, but we can get the diesel in a manual - but the engine is "de-tuned" to a lower power spec for the manual.

The other thing I've noticed is that is says that detonator Yellow is avaialable, but it does not show the yellow color patch.

It must be a Jeep thing.

I just remembered, the manual diesel has the "new" stop start option. When the gearbox is in neutral (like at traffic lights), the engine switches off, and then restarts when you push the clutch in.

The idea sounds good, but I'm not too sure about it. It doesn't worry me as I've gone with an auto which means I get the diesel with 460nm of torque.

THAT'S A LOT OF GRUNT

What're they taking lessons from a Prius now?? That would drive me nuts.
