I don't see the appeal. Our Jeep has them and the girlfriend must have them on auto all the time. My truck does not have auto lights and I could care-a-less.

You've all seen the people driving in the dark without headlights or in other low-light conditions such as heavy snow. Same reason lights come on when wipers are on - becoming the law in several states.

The whole idea of adding them after the fact seems really ridiculous to me. If you forget to turn your headlights on when it's dark, do you forget to put pants on in the morning? Do you forget to flip the lights on and wonder why you can't see when entering a dark room in your house? The amount of work it would take to install the necessary equipment is about 10,000 times greater than simply turning your lights on manually over the entire course of ownership of the vehicle. I understand luxury, but sometimes it's spelled "lazy".

You seem to be forgetting that with auto-on, also comes auto-off. IMHO, that's the more useful feature, and you might appreciate such if you ever returned to your car to find a DEAD BATTERY.

And yea, there are people who do indeed accidentally leave a light on in their homes, when they leave. :tomatoes:

That's my point. Thanks.

The headlights turn themselves off after several minutes, anyway. No matter what model you have.

Not a fan of auto-headlights, so I never use them. I do turn on my running lights quite often.

I think DRL's are more important that auto-headlights. But I guess if you have DRL's you may forget to turn your lights all the way on?

One day I will get a Procal just to turn on DRL's.

I can't tell you how many dipweeds I see running down the highway with no lights on or just DLR lights on... If only they made some sort of auto switch that these people could turn on once and forget.

Oh really? Wow. That is good to know.

I wish the JK was like my Land Cruiser. Lights turn off with ingition regardless. But if you want to turn the lights back on with the key out, you'll need the flip the lights off and on again.

That is from my build thread. I did the install of the new switch and sun sensor but got the limited function. Another user there, who I was helping via PM, said he went to the dealer but they were unable to flash LMG to the onboard computer. I haven't made a dealer run yet to confirm.

Does anyone have a knowledgeable dealer they could confirm with? :whistling:
So, any luck on the dealer flash? I have the parts located, but haven't had the inclination to attempt.

Is the install of the combo switch difficult? Pulling the airbag makes me nervous!

I called local dealer, they feel very excited about the chance to do this.

So they said the tool is Witech, but they question the code LMG, how do I (we) verify this code? Does anyone have an "option code listing"

Thanks!

I just went to the dealers websight and did a "live Chat". The chat person is supposed to get back to me thru email on whether they install it or not and if so the cost.

I'm 1 of those lazy idiots (from the name calling above) that like them. not because I'm too lazy but because my last few cars have had them (and P.U.s) and I have a tendency to forget to put them on when it rains or just at dusk. Both a law here in Missouri
You can call me lazy as well, I am ok with it, 23 years on my knees crawling through smoke and fire, yeah sure I deserve to be lazy.
I'm 68 yrs old. Short (or long) term memory isn't my best feature. Wish I had power windows too. I'm 6'5, 308 and there's not a lot of room when I need to roil the windows.
