You guys that are quoting 20+/- mpg- are you talking about over the whole tank or just momentary on your dash computer?

Maybe that explains the disparity between what I'm seeing and the amazing numbers you are reporting

I'm driving a 2010 Sport and it has automatic tranny. I get about 16 to 18 with my 31.5 x 17 wheels and tires. More of a negative for me isn't the poor mileage it is the lack of acceleration . On the highway I have to floor it to get to 68 mph and if you let up a little it just wants to slow down instantly. When I can afford it I will upgrade the aircleaner, microchip and the exhaust system. I hope that will improve performance and possibly even improve mpg to the 18-20 range.

Dash computers, we don't need no stinking dash computers!

Something must be wrong with your Jeep then because I am running 33's with lift, aftermarket bumper, winch, and steelies, and I can easily get my jeep up to 85 without kicking it outta overdrive.

I went from about 18 down to 14 in my 2002 after 4" lift and 33's. Then regeared, back up to about 16. I'm seeing 17-18 in my new one stock

Now is that dash comp is averaging the last how many miles/klicks? When doing a _lot_ of highway driving I do see it drop into 10.X litres/100 kilometers. But this thing is pretty new still, so who knows.

Cool

Don't know if this is the same basic software as my Dodge Ram, the hardware setup, display and knob in seems pretty similar and MB was part of the Company when this stuff was first installed in retail models.

Read your owners manual to see for sure...mine has 2 different averages; display is cumulative since last reset; push the knob twice and it resets so it reads for *now*.

I drove the 08 last week on a 20+ mile test loop. We started at "10.3 mpg" which freaked out the salesman. We drove enough so after I reset it a few times & got about 10 miles away from the lot, it was working its way up toward 20 mpg, and finally stabilized at 22.0 by the time we got back to the lot.

Whether that's meaningful or not I don't know, but it was the same kind of operator input as what the Ram uses.

And I could live with 22 mpg if my Jeep really were getting that.

We have a 2010 Rubicon 6spd and we average about 16.8 mpg doing about 70% city and 30% highway. Usually on the highway I'm running 75 or better.

From what I'm reading here and on other boards that's about average. I've seen some doing better and some doing worse but the majority seem to be where we are.

On a recent trip of 120 miles on mixed use roads, which is 2 and 4 lane roads non interstate, I averaged 17mpg with an average speed of 63 mph.

I've had my JK for two weeks and feel like I am always at the gas station. I get about 17.5 miles per gallon from a full tank. Haven't done any upgrades yet.

ive been driving a 08 nitro with dash computer, whihc tell mpg, but something you guys must now unless u dont already is, tht its an average estimate, try reseting it when you leave for work or what not and checking, because if you dont it will show you the average of all the driving in the past 60 miles, usualy.. so i mean, you drive highway and get 18mpg, then do a bit of city, so down to 10mpg, then back home using highway, then a bit of city, and all that is mixed up into one reading.. thats how my dash computer works, im not sure botu jeep cause i got a 98 tj

I have a recently purchased 02,5spd 6 cyl. had 30- 9.5 - 15. Was getting pretty good milage, topping out at about 19mpg w/ cruise and the relatively flat FL highways. Haven't done a full check with the 31 dura tracs, but I'm suspecting similar results.

In my 2010 I am getting 15 mpg/city 20mpg/hiway. 255/75r 17, don't know the inches, 32's I think. The mileage all depends on the weather also and how I drive it. I really did not by my Jeep for it's mpg's, but for the confidence and fun it provides.

Maybe that explains the disparity between what I'm seeing and the amazing numbers you are reporting

I have a Fuel's Log with Excel then I keep all the informations (Date, City, Odometer reading, #Miles, #Gal, $/Gal, Total $, MPG, etc). The 21.77 is the average from the first day, included windy day, traffic, cold and hot weather, highways, gravel roads.
The size of the tires makes a big difference too.
