Talking Awsome trade!

So me and my girlfriend or now you can fiancée have come to a agreement. Well I was gonna get it for her either way but I kinda worked in a deal or suckered her into this lol!

We have been together for over 5 years straight. So we are at a mall in Tyler, Texas looking around at rings cuz we plan on getting married in August of next year. We look at the men's rings for a whole 5 minutes. Found the one I liked tungsten with 3 diamonds. $250.1 and half hours later she finally finds one she likes! Thank God! Well of course the one she chooses and likes its $5,000. ITS A F'EN RING! You wear this thing on your finger so people can look at it. Its not like you get to play with it, take it mudding, or teach it cool tricks its a ring. Come on $5,000's! Well of course I'm freaking out mentally but im telling her yes. But she's worth it. I would buy her more but I can't afford more. Well I told the ring lady let us talk for second. That's when I my evil plan went into play.

Needless to say I now have a $500 ring payment now of course I'm gonna pay more then that so it will get paid of early because I have some shopping to do. Cuz that little chit chat we had at the ring place I get to get a loan to buy wheels, tires, lift, and a couple of extras stuff in there. $5,000 dollar limit baby!!!!!!! that's what I like to call worken out a deal. Even if she would have said no to my loan I would have still got that ring. Gotta have my women looking good!

Great now you have 2 of the most money draining things in existance. Add children and you can pretty much quit wearing clothing with pockets and throw away that pesky wallet! lol

I guess I will be the one to state the obvious, but taking out a loan for vehicle modifications is just plain dumb.

Taking a loan out for ANYTHING is dumb. Unfortunately, We have become a demand it now, pay for it later people. Ever hear of Rent-A-tire? Remco? Rent -A- Center? You can have what you want now, as long as you are willing to pay at least twice what it is worth.

So..... if he wants to get a loan to fix up his Jeep, how is that any different from getting a loan to put a new roof, or new windows on the house?

It's different because a house is an investment. A new roof would be a necessity if it was needed as opposed to a luxury. Windows increase the value of your home. It is also money that you have a better chance of recouping when it comes time to sell that house. A Jeep (as much as we love them and want them to be) are not investments.

I realize there are tons of rent to own type places. Doesn't mean it's right.

Taking out a loan for anything isn't dumb. You have to do it. In this country you have to have credit. You don't get good credit without building your credit through loans and credit cards. As long as the person can manage their money/loans/credit cards there is nothing wrong with credit. It starts to get you when you start charging ridiculous things that you would be better served by just saving up the money and paying for it out right.

As for the OP. I wasn't telling him whether or not he should do it. It's his business.

Well I understand your deal. And I know she won't understand really what the lift means to you, so I know the kind of work it takes to get approved a loan from your wife. So good job for that, but you should have sweetened the deal buy asking her to pay the loan. lol Now you have a 10K payment instead of the 5. But I guess after the deal (the wedding) is you will both be paying for the ring, and the lift, so that is a pretty good deal in itself. hehe

Anyways congrats on the rings, the wife, and the lift. Now you know we are all going to want to see pics!!

Once the wife gets a little older, she'll want a lift too!

lol.

so what about this smiley

He's military... effective communication... be direct... no sugarcoating...

If it's family friendly, it's a good thing there's no voice feature! I usually do well filtering before the **** hits the keyboard, but when speaking, my filter is completely gone at this point... gonna hafta buy me another one when I retire in a couple years... do they sell those at o-o-o-o'reilly's?

As far as the ring goes... I've been married for 17 (I think...) years, but I can't say I feel your pain... I lucked out big time and got one of the rare gems that agrees that 5K for a ring is a bad idea... I told her to pick them both and the total was a little over $500 for both rings.

Come to think of it... I let her pick out a minivan last year too, and the one she found was only 3K... I wrote em a check
