Axle Ratio

I am the first time owner of a 2010 4-door Wrangler Sahara and am not as squared up as Id like to be in my mechanics. I opted for the 3.73 axle ratio but my neighbor suggested I upgrade it to a low 4.something to gain some more power back after putting 33" BFG Muds on it. The cost looks to be about $1800, is it worth it and what is the exact ratio.

First off, welcome to the forum

Now, $1800 is ridiculous for a regear. It should be $1100 to $1500 MAX. I'm not sure about the JK's optimal gear ratios so I'll let somebody else chime in.

You want 4.10 (same as in the Rubicon). This is my third Jeep, last one was a new 2003 Rubicon and it was night and day better performing that this 2010 I have with the 3.21 ratio. I'm getting the gears switched out with 4.10s for about 1900, price depends on where you go to get it done. For some reason, 3.73s are going for alot more $$$ then 4.10s and up, so keep them and sell them on ebay.
