In what I can only assume was a fit of temporary insanity, I traded in my 2005 TJ for a Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie last summer. While the truck is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned, I quickly discovered it was no replacement for a Jeep.
I fixed that mistake today, trading in the truck for a new-to-me 2007 JKU Sahara. I was planning to buy something a little newer, but this one had low mileage, a dealer-installed TeraFlex lift, and brand new Mickey Thompson mud terrains on AEV wheels -- all for well below what I had seen lesser Jeeps selling for in the area. I really wasn't planning to buy something already lifted, but like I said, I couldn't pass on this deal. The dealership gave me more than I was expecting for my truck, which means my wife might as well expect a brand new Quadratec magazine in the mail real soon.
It drives like a dream and is going to make an awesome platform for me to build from.
The best news of all? It's supposed to be 73 degrees here by the end of the week, meaning that top and those doors are coming off sooner than expected. Here's a shot from the dealership this afternoon, with many more pics to come:
I can't wait to get it out on the beach and to Uwharrie.
It's good to be back.
