Backspacing for 33 inch tires and new wheels?

I'm looking at getting either some 285/75/16 or 305/70/16 tires and I'm going to buy some new wheels. Not sure what backspacing I need to get for the new wheels. Anyone have some ideas? Is 4.5-5.0 inches enough?

yes that backspace range is fine. 4.5 to 5 is the most common

Will 305/70/16 fit on stock wheels with spacers or would I need to buy after market wheels because of the width of the tire.

I have 285/75-16 on 4.5" backspacing. Those tires would be okay on 5" but I think the wider ones might rub.

Wider than 285 is a cosmetic thing usually anyhow; unless you're going to be on sand all the time, the extra width works against you in many more ways than for you.
