To avoid running over small children. Or to assist in parking.

Also great for lining up trailer hitches by yourself

Anyone have an aftermarket one they really like? I'm putting in a new headunit that will take one but haven't chosen yet

I went with the Kenwood 6980. There is a setting to split screen the Nav so the backup camera is always on. Camera is mounted at the base of the bumper right above and protected by the hitch receiver.

True! Used to tow a pair of Harleys with my MDX. Camera was SO nice for hitching up the trailer.

Used the Kenwood CMOS-200. Not sure of the differences other than it does not have the grid lines like the 300 series.

Thanks for bringing this up..I just noticed I paid for the cmos-310 camera with the guidelines. I got the one without...now to prove they gave me the wrong one!

Try the backup camera settings. On mine it's a simple on off for the interupt but if I remember from the manual looks like you should also be able to turn the grid lines on off.

I have read through all the posts here. I called my jeep dealer this morning and he is looking into a date when jeep will have the camera. He said it should be by end of July but awaiting Confirmation. I have the 730n, which is great (did not understand all the negative posts on the forum comparing to 430n, ill post corrections later there for the inaccurate information I found) anyway I did find an audio store locally who knew the 430 and 730 and assured me this would be easy to install back up camera. Are all of you also under factory warranty? if so, by installing after market camera, doesn't void our factory warranty for the nav and electric?

Had Nav Tv and back up camera installed to-day. Pics of location of the camera and the new screens that have appeared since.

Yes, camera is powered off the reverse lights. As a side benefit with NavTV you get an over ride that allows you to use the DVD player and enter addrsses in the nav while in motion. Also able to add a front camera and another video input.

New here so not sure if last response posted. Thanks for uploading the pics, they look great! What brand was your camera and how much for total with install. Lastly do you know if this void the warranty for the navy?

This is exactly why I want a camera and why all vehicles will someday be required to have them.
If you have a blind spot, then you'll never be able to tell with 100% certainty that a little kid isn't back there. We can all blame parents not supervising their kids, but at the end of the day it ain't the 3-year-old's fault and we all need to keep an eye out for them. No one wants to be involved in a fatal accident involving running over a child, even if they aren't at fault.
Of course there is also the fact that a camera can save you from backing into a pole or other vehicle and is awesome when backing up to a trailer.

Has anyone had luck with back up camera build into a license plate holder? Concerned cause of the light above the plate.
