I've asked my local dealer to unlock my 730 NAV and they said they can't due to liability issues

I finished my install of my Mopar #82211293 backup camera and it works great. I installed everything last weekend and then took it to the dealer to have the accessory turned on. I was due for an oil change so I had the dealer do that while I was there and they turned on the camera for free, A great dealer. When they were done I would get a dark screen that said "Check Your Surroundings" so I knew they had it turned on but that I must have something wrong. I went home and after a little bit of diognostic work found that I did not have the terminals properly seated in the camera connector. You have to remove or slide forward the red plastic cover on the connector end that goes into the camera to get the terminals fully seated (you will feel them snap into place), then reinstall red cover to lock them in place. I also had to drill out the #6 opening in the connector cover, it had a plastic barrier in the way. I dissassembled the connector to prevent damaging the internals while drilling. I mounted my camera in an electrical hobby box so that I could move the camera out a little and angle it down to get the spare tire out of the picture. You can see by the picture it worked. I realize that this location makes the camera a little more vulnerable but I use a 3" drop receiver and you can clearly see the ball so if you pay attention while hooking up there shouldn't be a problem. I can also confirm that on the white C3 radio connector you use terminals 3, 4, and 5. You count the big terminal opening on the end as #1 and the the second small opening is #3 (camera signal). #4 is camera return and #5 is for the sheild wire. I really appreciate every ones posts on this project, it really made it easier for me, the only thing that tripped me up was the camera connector pin issue, other than that it was a piece of cake.
The mopar #82211293 you mention is that all you used? This automatically works when u put in reverse nothing else unlocked? What's the cost? Sorry been working on this for 3 months no answers.

Mine is on it's way. As I understand, it is plug and play...just need to have the dealer enable it on the 430. There are a couple threads with users who have done this. Ill try to dig them up again.

Iíve just found this (http://www.amazon.ca/Wrangler-Liberty-Backup-Camera-Monitor/dp/B0089578JE/ref=sr_1_40?ie=UTF8&qid=1351905041&sr=8-40) on amazon.ca. I wonder if this can be used with 430N. It looks cool. If itís compatible (electrically) with 430N it will be a good deal.

Anyone found a good mirror mounting system with a mirror that also has map lights and auto-dimming? Basically I don't want to end up with a mirror worse off than the OEM one..
Can you give me parts and wiring info? And especially interested if anyone found one which I can install myself on a '13 JKUR without needing much technical expertise..

Here is a thread on it. A few people have done it...but I'm sure a lot of research needs to be done.

The Commander cam works, plug and play. I did have a dealer install it since they provided the best solution for mounting the camera.

They just enable the cam via Starscan. All is working perfectly and OEM!

Very cool. Would you also post step by step install instructions and anything you learned/tips from your install experience?

Thanks!!!

Thanks to pat@fieldsauto.com !

Commander cam. Yes, I have a Rubicon with the Sahara bumper covers now!

I did not do the install of this one myself. I wasnt able to come up with a good way to mount the camera in the bumper. I went to a dealer where a guy has been doing them. I wont give his tricks away. The wiring is very simple. Mounting the camera is the trick. The wires are run up through the hardtop wire access grommet and run down the inside of the Jeep.

Here it is with the Homelink Mirror I installed prior. There were a few questions about the mirror too. I have a 2012, so no wiring. I ran the switched and ground to the lighter on the right side of the dash and ran the constant fused to the battery. I ran through the firewall on the rightside dash just below the pillar.

The spare tire in the rear view doesn't bother me. I will be lifting it and adding a Teraflex carrier and mount. This will allow me to raise the tire an inch or so as needed.

You can see the "Check Entire Surroundings" message here as factory. Goes off after a few seconds.

So use a Commander cam and plug it in and thats it? Is the Starscan the dealership scan tool?

Yes, and yes.

You have to follow the wiring code, but there are instructions al over online. Dealer can activate the camera for you. Have them make sure they can flash it first...you need to insure that your VIN still has these options open. The guys I was working with feel that the newer ones may not offer the ability to match the VIN and enable the camera. They have not run across this yet.

The problem I have, my dealer wont install the Commander cam because it's not listed in their computer to fit the JK.

Thanks for the pics and info. Great stuff.

Anyone do this with a recently manufactured JKU? Mine is an October build and I'd like to make sure it's feasible given the above comment about late model VINs.

Thanks for all the great info and pics. I live in Milwaukee so a drive down to Chicago might be in my future. The install looks great. Nice and clean. It looks stock.

Do they make a unit with the screen inside the rear view mirror?
