Tough crowd. But thanks for the clarification. Northfield works better for me since I can go hang at my buddies place in Lake Forest if I need to kill a lot of time during the install. Plus it's a shorter drive. I wish I would have heard of Pat before I bought my 13. I would have driven down for sure.

Yes, Gentex mirror and pick a camera. Install is likely easier since you aren't wiring into the radio.

I'm interested in this. However, no navigation (by choice). Automatic 2012 JKU so I ask you, what are my real options? I got connectivity package (what ever radio that is) not sure if that's important or not.

Looks sharp! Give Pat a call. In fact, I might be calling him today..if I do, I will ask if they have integrated with a 730.

You can get a video enabled rearview mirror, external monitor, or add a new head unit.

Going to call the dealer about this on Monday. Any advice? I plan on giving them a printout of this thread.

Any news on a factory kit for the wrangler after SEMA? Looked like they had a JK there with one installed and saw a few other posts saying they might be revealing a plug a kit for the wrangler.

What type of connections are free or available on the 430N, i.e. RCA jacks, etc? Can I purchase a universal rear camera, say Alpine from Crutchfield, and simply plug it into the rear of the 430N head unit, or do I need to purchase an adapter?

There's no RCA jack. You need to get lockpick or nav tv which lets you connect backup camera to it then display video on your 430N. Search for mygig lockpick. There are plenty of information on the net about this.

It's not the only option. Rumor has it the Commander backup cam works on the 430/730N I'm just waiting for more time to do it

Mopar Part #82211293 - then take it to the dealer for reprogramming to activate it.

I went the lockpick/flush camera route because I wanted the features the lockpick gives you in addition to the backup camera. I shopped around and got both for $225 off eBay. Now I have backup camera, nav input while driving, and video in motion for those times Thomas the Tank Engine is required to soothe the savage beast known as our son.

Thanks for the info. I am thinking the Mopar Part #82211293 will be the route to go. I will have to wait until spring time when it is a little warmer to install.

That sounds pretty cool - but I'm hoping an iPad mini with earphones will be a good compromise for the baby if it comes down to that. I love the kid but I can't stand children's programming on repeat and full blast.

I have the 730N, but it will work for the 430/430N as well.

i had the dealer install the Jeep plug and play version on my 13 JKU Sport S. They put in a new rear view mirror with the camera screen on the left side (autodim). The camera was installed on the rear licence plate.
This is a horrible set up and I'm trying to return it to get my money back. The camera blinks off and on while reversing - especially when using the brake. It's also sitting too low and is totally useless in the dark -picture is grainy without any night-vision support. Having no overhang protection it's also useless during rain.
Unfortunately I don't know what brand they used but it's total crap. I was back in the service dept for them to adjust it but it still blinks off/on when used. Really disappointed

Sorry to hear. Ill look for my paper work. I had the camera installed at the hitch by rear bumper. Works great day and night. The screen is clear. Had it since May and all good!

It sounds like your dealer used a crummy camera - quality varies greatly among manufacturers.

I'm curious, what did you pay total for the setup? Did you get it done by a dealership?

Yes. I know that. I took my car to dealer to active rearview camera on my 430N. But they said it can not be done. I know it's BS and got sick of it, then just decided to get lockpick though all I wanted was a backup camera.

Installed lockpick (still in the process of doing it along with other mods.) and the manual says I can hookup two more cameras for side view which can be automatically activated with turn signal. I am gonna install these side cameras and see if I like it. I need to figure out where to mount these cameras with least mod/damage to my car in case I don't want them.

Do you recall who the seller was on Ebay?
