I'd like to see this too, but on a AEV rear bumper.

I can get you a picture of that in the morning, I don't have the Commander camera, but rather an aftermarket one that flush mounts like the Commander one.

Here's the pictures of mine mounted in the AEV bumper. Mine is a $20 cam I got off of eBay to go with my Lockpick rather than the Commander cam. The spare just sneaks into the top of the pic because I have a 33 on the stock carrier. If the spare was up a but it wouldn't show at all.

Thanks for the pic. That's similar to what I have now but I'm interested in the commander camera as I'd like to eliminate the lock pick and reflash to radio. This way (hopefully) I won't get electrical feedback through my stereo once I install it. If you have any questions, pm me, so we keep this thread on topic, thanks.

I sent you a PM, you should be able to retain your current camera and still eliminate the Lockpick.

What would be a reasonable price for the dealer to install the commander camera and Starscan the radio. I have been getting quotes locally and lowest I got was 1300$. Way over my expectations.

Commander camera should be just over $100.00 on ebay. Starscan should be under $100.00...Look at my thread on installing it...took me about 2 hours to do the whole thing.

Thanks. Good info. I haven't, unfortunately, been able to find that camera for less than about $150.

Anyone familiar with this camera

I found this camera on ebay and it appears that it would lock down nicely on the rear bumper with the appropriate sized hole. Does anyone have any knowledge or used it in their install?

I've been going back and forth...

Commander camera...or Lockpick for my rbz.

I like that the Lockpick has more features, but it also seems like some they can cause trouble at times (people end up unhooking them). So I'm assuming a Commander camera would get along with the system a bit better.

Don't know what to do....

I agree the commander camera may be the easiest way to go...I just havent seen any clean way to install it without some sort of custom inside bumper mount that I most likley can't fabricate.

I don't know if people are drilling the stock rear bumper or not. But all the ones I have seen have the Sahara bumper cover over them. So it could be that the cameras are being mounted in between the bumper cover and the bumper...maybe.

I saw where someone installed the camera on the spare tire and thought that might be a good approach.

Installing it in the spare tire area would be far easier to do than flush in the bumper...but I can't get over the OEM look of the bumper mount...I just like that look. Mounting the Commander camera inside on some sort of angle/custom setup still seems like the direction I will go. I was just hoping for some detailed steps from some of those that have already done this. The photos I have seen don't give ME enough info to feel comfortable trying.

Read my post from earlier...lots of pictures included. It was easy to drill out the bumper.

Just installed a flush mount on my bumper. 6 bolts to remove plastic OEM bumper, easy. Mounting the camera was easier than routing the wire to the front, but looks great!

Any detailed pics showing how the camera is attached and what brand/model it is, where you bought it from, how much you paid, etc.?

Just a cheap one from Amazon:

Gino 1/4" CCD Flush Mount Waterproof Truck Car Reverse Backup Rear View Camera : Amazon.com : Automotive

It didn't come with instructions and I scratched my head for a minute because the video cable had a red power wire attached and the camera also came with a black/red power wire pair. When the lightbulb in my head finally lit up I figured out you ground the black wire near the camera and connect the red wire from the power pair to the red power on the video cable so you can plug the power in up front. I used a lockpick which includes power for the rearview camera. Took me about 3 hours at a leisurely pace to install it (there may have been a beer or two involved). I found a video on YouTube that shows how to take apart the dash. 4 screws on the 2013, also pretty painless. Sorry, but I didn't take pictures as I went through the install. Guess I should have...

The picture with this camera is a bit grainy at night, but looks great in the day, although the guides are a bit too big for my liking and seem to be angled up. Perhaps the camera is intended to have a slight downward orientation....

Anyone?
I used a piece of diamond plate that I drilled out for the 2 upper spare tire studs and then marked where the camera hole needed to be to see through the spare then just remounted the spare and the "trigger" wire was just tapped into the right side reverse light. I did this on my 89 wrangler.

I just finished my FRONT and REAR camera install. I use the rear camera for towing my ATV's , and the front for my "spotter" when I dont have a spotter.

Anyways, I think I already know the answer to my question, but I will throw it out there.. Does anyone know if there is a way to bypass / delete / those stupid guide lines on any of the cameras?

I ordered a three cameras off Amazon to try out:
Audiovox Cmos2 5-In-1 Multi-Mount Back-Up Camera
Shark shk5199
Gino Flush Mount 1/4" CCD NTSC/PAL Wide Angle Car Rear View Backup Camera

I'll experiment and hope to end up with a front and rear camera setup. I will be using the NAV-TV box.

I got the dealer to flash my 730 to work a reverse camera. Is there a "Plug" thay would connect to the back of the 730 MyGIG radio that would allow me to have RCA (Audio/Video) input so I could use an aftermarket Backup Camera?

Thanks!

The back of the radio has an open 15 pin connector for a oem camera. Only 3 pins are used for this connection. From there you can make any type of connection you want...
