Backup camera or beeper?

Anyone have a backup camera installed and where did you place it? My wife's concerned about not being able to see out the back very well and doesn't want to back over our 5 year old. I honestly don't know why that isn't an option since so many vehicles have this and the spare tire blocks the rear window. I'm waiting until June/July to order a '14 Rubi because I don't like any of the '13 model year colors, so maybe they'll at least come up with a rear beeper alarm.

Sorry, I don't recall which one, but one of the 4-Wheel magazines I take had a write-up on installing a rear camera on a JK a few issues back. Had to be in Jp, 4-Wheel & Off-Road, or Four Wheeler. You might be able to find it on line. Anyway, they went to a motorhome/travel trailer dealer and used the same systems they use for a back-up camera. You might check it out.

I wish someone would come up with a good one like the one in my F-150. The camera image is in the rear-view mirror. I can't see out back because of my tire carrier.

Plenty of discussion about installing a rear view camera on here. Between the two I'd go with the camera, I had the beeper in my F150 while nice it really didn't help me back up or allow me to see what was going on. I doubt you'll see these added to the Wrangler anytime soon, you can probably find these on other Jeeps that market to the crowd.

Mount the camera...easy to do and plenty of instructions here to get it done. It does give you a great view and I added a ball to my hitch that extends out to the back of the tire. Easy to back up now and both my wife and kids love the new view.

Poor kid! But if he's already been backed over I'd say just tell your wife to go with it and mow the little guy down.

Put mine right in the middle of the spare and angled it down.
