I was driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, and just past the first tunnel, with a semi beside me, I noticed a fat seagull up ahead in the roadway. The gull was focused on some roadkill, was too slow to get in flight, and this is the result.
Bad day for the windshield, and my blood pressure, but worse for the bird.
LOL for some reason a certain quote from Independence Day with Will Smith popped into my head.............. (I've slightly modified the quote, see if you can figure it out  )
Wait until I get another windshield! I am going to line all your friends RIGHT BESIDE YOU!
A bird and 55 mph of force. Yeah, I really was Ace Ventura--two more hours of driving to get to the Courthouse, then 2.5 hours back to meet the windshield guy at my house. You should have seen the looks. All good now, but a sketchy morning.
Heard about a company that makes a full polycarbonate windshiled for the JK.
see if I can find the link.
Doesn't cost much more than that tough as peanut brittle stock wind screen.
I drove from NC to OH then to CO when I moved. I just got my oil changed and I have 7 more rock chips in my windshield and just the other day I hit a bird with the top of my windshield/roofline. No damage but man I've never had any rock chips in my other cars. Got to love that perfectly straight up and down windshield.
I have to wonder...... How did they change the design of the windshield so dramatically that JK windshields break so much easier than the TJ design ? My 97' TJ has 163,000 miles on it. It looks like it was sandblasted, but has never cracked
I was traveling in my cj7 a few years back and had a bat belly flop on my drivers side windshield about 60 mph. Didnt break my glass but being that it was about midnight it caused some pucker factor.
My insurance is still NC as I just moved here so not sure how it'll change when I get my license/registration/insurance here.
