Well, here is some evidence. 75% highway moderate traffic, 25% city. 2012 Sport S, 3.21, auto.

If you still don't believe I can post the stats of the individual fill-ups. All calculated by the app, not EVIC.

Mileage has dropped a bit due to winter gas and below freezing temps where I drive.

I'm getting the exact same thing here maiden and I have 3.73 with auto. 27 mile one way commute with about 15 lights between home and work I would estimate. About the longest stretch between lights is 2 or 3 miles but granted there are some times 5-10 mile stretches in between red lights but I'd say I hit at least half of them red on average. I've had about half my tanks average a tad over 20mpg since I bought it in September. I even had one tank that was over 21mpg. The last few have been in the 19's due to colder weather and more stop and go errand driving around town. I'm glad I got one that doesn't like to drink gas!

It's called "Road Trip" and is available in the App Store.

2012 Sport with 3.21 getting 19.4 by pump and 20.1 ave. by dash. No consistent highway miles as yet. Fuel light comes on at about 15 gallons but has a 18.6 tank?
Those MTE and MPG #s on the dash are highly suspect.

Yesterday I drove 400 miles, approx 80% highway and the rest city and averaged 18 MPG. Not bad considering the size of the tires I put on but just like all the other vehicles I have owned I do expect it will get a little better in time. I'd be happy with 21-22MPG.

So far with 4,700 miles (75% highway/25% city) I have averaged 17.1 MPG (by calculation not computer) on a 2012 JKU Sahara. High tank so far is 18.1, low tank 14.6

What is the size of your tires and have you rezeroed your odeometer?

I wonder how many people with over-sized tires account for the fact that you're going further than the odometer/trip-computer, etc. thinks. My Jeep has 35s and my odometer moves exactly 10 miles for every 11 mile-markers I pass. When my mpg-computer reads 18.0, I'm really getting that plus 10%--or 19.8 mpg (assuming the mpg-computer's accurate; or if you divide the Odo miles by the gas-pump gallons, I still have to multiply 110% to get my real mpgs).

I have a stock 2011 Sport S 2dr w/ 6 Sp and 3.21s. With hard top I get 20+ city and close to 25 highway. I keep the tires at 3 psi over recommended when I am driving on pavement. (if your pressure is 10 to 20% low you might notice a pretty good drop (10%) in fuel economy and your Jeep will feel like it is sluggish.

My 20 year old who drives it like it is his Mom's sports car gets 15 city and 20+ highway. We both get about 10% less with the soft top in the down position.

Unless there is something wrong with the the vehicle, it all comes down to equipment configuration, driving style, and fuel blend (winter blend, corn gas, etc.).

I get 16 to 17 city and 19 to 20 hwy.
Highway milage really suffers if you drive faster than 60 MPH.
Trust me, I rarely drive 60 or less on the highway.

2012 Wrangler Sport here

I do not believe I have ever gotten 14 mpg typically 13 or so. While that mpg sucks I love driving my Jeep which far out weighs this issue for me. Also not a daily driver

You have provided exactly what I was referring to. You are basing this on 75% highway. Not 90% city. Big difference. My Jeep does quite well on the highway (20) provided that it is fairly level and I keep speeds under 75. However, if I go fast or have to go up a mountain, the mileage drops to 17 on the highway.

Wind or high speeds *really* lower your mileage in a Wrangler. I get much better mpg going 65 or so. Just try it and see how it does. Yeah, that's annoying, but everything else about a Wrangler completely rocks (esp a rubi).
I just got through a tank driving really easy instead of my normal leadfoot business. It was tough, I tried to keep the ECO light on. Mixed highway and city (about 50/50 split) and no faster than 65 mph, I got 18.6 mpg hand-calculated. So my mileage improved 4.1 mpg just from driving habits.

To the OP - it's annoying, but try driving this thing as gently as you can for a full tank and see how you do. If you decide to give it a shot, let us know how it goes?

A "little old lady"-- (my mother) said to get good gas mileage in anything, drive it as if there is a raw egg between your shoe and the pedals--gas or brake.

It is not so much how fast or slow but how consistent--no "abrupt" starts or STOPS..

My '04 TJ 17-19city 20-22 highway.

MY '12 JK 19-20 city 22-24 highway.

That is driving "normally" for me being an old man. If we get snow, I off road, in a hurry mileage drops like a rock....

Laugh all you want but I sure as hell am not going to drive at 65. That is ridiculous in the bigger western states. 80 is fast but it is the speed limit on parts of I-15 in Utah. Most western states have a 75 mph speed limit on the interstates. It is 70 here in California but you can easily drive 74 without the CHP bothering you.

Nor do I. I was just curious what you thought was fast. I will garantee you this if you go much above 70 your mileage will suck if your ok with that great

I have over 7k on my 2012 unlimited and I get 19+ MPG. That is hand calculated after a week of mix driving. If I really baby it I can get 22+ MPG. I did notice a little drop in MPG with the winter blend. I on board computer is off about 1 MPG

If you live in Florida and you are getting 14 mpg, the short list of suspects I would eliminate first (before moving on to more complicated ideas)

1. Driving style. You're either driving too fast, or too hard. Check out a few forums on driving style for maximizing MPG. Chances are you aren't using too many of these techniques.

2. Winter blend gas.

3. Engine break in.

4. Your MPG measurement process.

I listed driving style first because that is usually the real culprit, and it's the quickest and easiest thing to fix.

Here is a website I use to log and calculate my fuel mileage and consumption. I've been using it since I first took delivery of my '12.

Here's mine so far all hand calculated. I would like better but I can't say I was surprised based on all the posts since September on 2012 mileage numbers

fyi Exceprt for first tank brake in this is mostly hwy, almost always in ECO zone, MN winter blend gas (10% Ethanol) and rarely over 70mph
Yep this is about what i get on the highway...not lifted with 33s
