Bad time to buy a Jeep in June?

My lease expires in June and I was wondering if June is a bad time to buy a Jeep? Not to mention a possible refresh in 2015? But maybe enough value would hold to sell and buy up?

Thoughts?

Don't let timelines etc sway you. Enjoy life. If you want a wrangler, buy one, regardless of month.

Sure 2015 may hold a new wrangler but that's not until 2015. You're living NOW, you're getting older day by day NOW. Get your wrangler now and in a few years you can re-evaluate your situation as needed.

One benefit of buying in June is that you are coming up on the end of the 2ndQ...so salesmen/women have more incentive to hit their goals.

Also, 2014 order banks open up in June, so you might be able to swing a deal on a 2013 off the lot. Don't forget to use an Affiliate Member discount (like Tread Lightly) as well.

When I went to the dealership I was told that warm months wrangler's fly off the shelves cause people want the "wrangler experience" of taking the top and doors off. So sales tend to be higher for wranglers during those months. I'm guessing you might get a better deal in the winter. However If you really want no hassle sign up for tread lightly, apply for the 500 dollar rebate on the Jeep website and see what other incentives they have offered. I got mine in October, and did Conquest rebate which was $1,000 + $500 Jeep coupon in mail, +1% Tread lightly, overall that came down to something around employee pricing for my wrangler. I couldn't turn that down!

This, 100%.

You might find out you have months to live any day, just as a friend of mine did last summer. He's gone now.

Couldn't have said it better. You wait one month and then it's a year for the next model change and then it's a year for a new motor option and then...you get it. Jeeps are all timeless IMO. Get it and LIVE! ....next best thing to a Harley!

I don't think it will matter much as far as price, but what I learned last June was there wasn't much choices left on the lot. Everything left on the dealer lots were either stripped down, expensive special editions, or unpopular colors. They were still taking the same affiliates rewards discount regardless of year.

Also you don't have to join tread lightly for the discount. Chances are the company you work for offers it. A lot of employers from Starbucks to Google offer the discount.

I think the best time is now (if you are in a cold weather area) as they do sell better when spring rolls around.

Big rebates here, but it seems you guys have very little or no rebates in the US. Dealerships were empty last month, I was in a bunch of them (only guy there).

I just bought mine, I don't think the fluctuations are as extreme with the Wrangler vs. heavily-discounted vehicles like, say, Silverados. Check USAA, truecar, tread lightly, get the frickin' Jeep!

I waited almost two years to buy my wrangler (just bought it last week). Look around, test drive a few and find what you want then pull the trigger!

Thanks all. I can't buy it until June no matter what because of my lease but I will buy it then. Thank you. All I want is black so should be easy, I hope!

Look at the market on the day you want to buy something and go with that. There is no "best" time to buy anything.

The best time to buy something is when you have the money and find what you want :-).

Anytime you can get behind the wheel of a wrangler, it's a great time to buy one!

Although you can't buy until June, it may be worthwhile to start looking now. Build up a relationship with a dealer or 2 because you may not be able to find what you want come June 1 and a dealer can keep his eye open for what you want. Afterall, June is only 10-12 weeks away.

I got my last JKU in June 2012, and it was a nightmare trying to find one I wanted. Inventory was horribly depleted. The 12s were almost all gone, but the 13s weren't hitting lots yet. It was probably the worst month of the entire year to be searching for a Wrangler. Just my $0.02.

For the record, we won't see the all-new Wrangler until 2016 as a 2017 model. So if you do another 36 month lease, you'll be on perfect timing to get the all-new Wrangler once it's been out a few months and the initial bugs are showing themselves so you'll know what you're getting.

Just because you are in a lease till June doesn't mean you can't trade it in now. Just call the Lease holder and see what the buyout is, then head to your local Jeep dealer and see what they can do! Hope this helps!

You could always place an order in May for exactly what you want so that it is here buy June. Assuming the 4-6 build window remains. Spend the weeks before that to hammer out the price, and put your request in for the info to try and get the $500 bonus cash.

The month does not matter, but the time of the month does. Always buy on the last day of the month and you will get a better deal, because they are all trying to meet their factory quota goals so that they will receive their rebates from Chrysler. It amounts to about $200 additional for each one that they have sold in that month, but if they don't meet their factory quota, then their rebate for that month is zero (0).

This is dead nuts on. I bought my Jeep on July 30th which was the last day for a special dealership incentive and got mine for $3k under sticker and they threw in the UConnect system for free as I didn't want it (THEN. Now it's the next best thing to sliced bread. Shhh. Don't tell the dealer!).

As for worrying about there being enough in stock, there will be a ton of black Jeeps available as I had dozens to choose from last summer when I was looking. Then again maybe in Buffalo the peak Jeep season is in January!

Bought mine mid June 2012. Great deal. They had an "internet special" which was (of course) sold upon arrival. Gave same pricing and well over Kelly BB for my two seater.

And check Edmunds.com for TMV (True Market Value) for your area and for any dealer incentives. Naturally if you buy something they have on the lot they'll be more likely to deal. And say NO to everything the F&I guy offers (IMHO)

i would say that now is a great time to buy a jeep , i bought mine last may and it gave me time to break the engine in, do a few mods, get to know my new baby and enjoy it all summer. Although i do agree that any time is a great time to buy a wrangler , these were just my excuses to buy mine when i did

Not relevant to USA, but i purchased my 2012 in dec. 2012, here there is a law that the car cannot set at the dealer more than a year from import date otherwise they must register the car and then sell it as a 2nd hand.

I squeezed the price from $70k to $58k and they added accessories worth $3k.

I know its very expensive and you could get 2 jeeps at this price in the states.. So I ended up with 2012 vs 2013 but I got a depreciated price close to a 2nd hand jeep and the dealer is happy because not a lot of people buy jeeps here. ( fuel is very expensive) and people here go with company cars.

I want to say that I was hunting and planning for this since jan 2012 and it worked for me and I am very satisfied of my purchase..
