Just purchased and installed mine today. It went in really well. Price was $399. They offered a two year warranty for 80 bucks. When I declined that the sales clerk discounted the price of the winch to 319 and sold me the two year warranty, so the price came out to 399. Just so everyone knows, on the 24th of August this winch will be 299. I may go back because of their 30 day policy, if the price goes down you get the sale price.

I put this into my ARB bumper and it fills the hole nicely.

Just bought my HF 12,000 for $299, and got the badlands universal mount for $35. With the extended warranty, i can upgrade if a new model comes out in 3 years, and if it breaks, or even gets crushed in a wreck, i get a new one. Cant beat it.

How'd you get it for $299? Looking at getting one when I get home from Iraq next week. Also, did you use the universal mount for a stock bumper or an aftermarket one?

Thanks,
Kevin

I also bought the 12,000lb winch for $299 last week. I used the HF universal winch plate and mounted the winch behind the bumper.

I am getting ready to purchase a Badlands 12000 lb winch and was looking for info on a hitch mount when I came across this post.

I realize that the winch and mount will come in around 125 lbs but with 2 Wranglers and 1 SuperDuty I can't afford 3 winches.

With that said I had settled on a Curt Mfg Universal Hitch Mount #31009 and called to confirm mounting dimensions and rating. Mounting dims are spot-on but the mount is rated for 9000 lb winch.

Looking at the line pull chart in the Badlands manual and extrapolating the data a lilttle, it appears that as long as I straight pull from approximately 50'-100' I should be at 9000 lbs or less.

Chart shows:
9550 lbs at 36'
8000 lbs at 61'

Question #1: Based on most of your experiences, are line pulls of 50'+ most common or less than 50' more the norm?

Question #2: Can anyone recommend a hitch mount rated for a 12000 lb winch?

I got some KILLER D rings for fairly cheap at the local Tractor Supply store. Probably find a store online. Long Live Harbor Freight! Got 2 solar panels mounted on my hard top that run a camp. $200 complete using an existing additional deep cycle battery. Love that Harbor freight

So far so good with mine. A little rust on the gear shift handle, the chrome is peeling off of it. I plan on hitting it with some silver paint. Functionally, it still works.

If you follow that link, as some extra advice... I used a winch plate for a TJ. You don't need to cut the winch plate that way, you just drill the frame to match. The TJ winch plate edges will fit between the frame upside down
