Banging in undercarriage. what's up with that?

Hi all, I own a 2011 2 door sport and I have recently noticed a thunking/banging underneath the back right hand under carriage (underneath of jeep). Sounds like the muffler or frame is not fastened tightly on this side. I got underneath to see if anything was loose or bolts were missing but didn't notice anything. Has anyone else experience this problem?

Thanks.

Clyde

Check the heat shields on the exhaust. They are known to rattle from broken weld joints. The one that crosses the jeep is common for that problem.

Put a buddy in the drivers seat engine running, in PARK. Beside the Jeep, get on your back and listen. Have him hit the gas slowly until it resonates. As KJ said, it'll be a loose heat shield, hanger, etc. With gloves, hold the part to confirm. Dependiong on problem. it might not resonate/clunk until you hit a pothole. If you don't wheel it, consider taking to dealer - it might be their problem (although that takes a few hours, so if it's a heat shield, it's a $1 clamp and 10 minutes (and a few beers)
