Barricade Bumpers

I was wondering how those who have purchased the Barricade bumpers like them? Quality, ease of install, durability etc.... I really like the look of them and they seem to be in the price point I am wanting to stay in as I am more Mall crawler than beach buggy.

Mainly concerned with the rear bumper and tire carrier. I am just not sold on the teraflex style which attaches to the body, even after hearing others say they had no problem.

thanks

I picked up the Barricade Trail Force HD Full Width bumper at the end of November. The bumper feels solid and the welds look great. The packaging left a bit to be desired and the bumper had some small areas of chipped paint. Extreme Terrain support was fantastic and send me a paint touch-up kit. As for the install, it was pretty straight forward. The hardest part was removing the plastic clips for the air dam and the OEM bolts! One of them was a bit tricky to get to but eventually succumbed. Bolting on the bumper was trivial and a one-man job - just slid the bolt studs into the mounting holes and I was able to let go, then manually tighten the nuts. In the photo, the shiny spots are areas where I had hit it with the touch up paint. Super happy with the bumper and getting ready to pull the trigger on a winch. (and then a 2.5" boost, maybe)

Follow up to those who are running the Barricade style Bumpers, are the DV8 Off Road just another relabeled clone? They have what appears to be 3 variants, all with different price points. The RS-02 Rear carrier looks somewhat interesting as it looks like it blends the tailgate carrier with the bumper carrier and looks pretty decent imo.

If not to run the barricade style, what would be available with a similar price point and mounting. IE: 600-950.00

thanks

Not totally sure on that, but I do know what you're talking about. When I was researching bumpers (and ended up going with the TrailForce HD bumper since someone was selling locally for cheap) I found at least 4 different brands that all looked just like the Barricade bumper. But you're right, if you get something perhaps a little beefier you're going to pay more as well.

I only have the front bumper from Barricade and for my purposes it is perfect. I don't have a winch (yet...hoping in the next year or two), so I wasn't too concerned with that, so it does what I need for the simpler trails and driving out in the field. Once I get to the point where I want a winch, I'm also going to update the bumper so I have one that sits inside rather than on top.

Install of the bumper is dead simple; in fact, the hardest part about the install is taking off the stock bumper. Once you do that you're golden. And it reuses the stock fog lights so that's a plus for me since I wasn't upgrading the lights at the same time (and even if you do upgrade later, the lights can be switched without removing the bumper).

If you end up going with the Barricade feel free to message me if you have trouble with the install. I know there is also a guy on here I think named CPO who has a fairly extensive thread on his experience with Barricade bumpers (I'd suggest using google to search and just include WranglerForum in the search terms since google tends to work better than the search function on here). Also, if you buy off extremeterrain.com you'll get a discount (one of the vendors for the forums). Just give a shout to XTRyan and he'll help you out!

Good luck! :thumb:

The instructions say you need to cut and extend but really all you need to do is unwrap the tape and plastic covering and separate the fog light wiring from the rest of the bundle. You need to go quite a ways back but it will reach.

For the price it's a great bumper. No rust on mine and it looks good. Hope to mount a winch soon.

I have the trail force with the led lights. It had the extension for the lights.
I have been very happy with it. I had to touch up the corners a little but it is held up better than my OR FAB which I paid about twice the price. First rain and it rusted around the welds on the hoop. The OR FAB used the factory fog lights. The barricade was on sale and had the LED lights. Quality wise they are very similar. I have the Barricade on a 2014 JKU Sport and the OR FAB on the 2015 JK Sahara.

I got the trail force HD front, rear (without carrier) and the rock rails...
they all seem just fine...
this is their first winter/snow/salt season on my jeep and so far they are doing fine, no rust...

I got the Trailforce HD w/ LED during Black Friday. Took two hours to remove the old bumper and put on the new one including the Hanson Offroad skid plate, and a winch. Some paint rubbed off during shipping, but otherwise I'm pretty happy. It comes with a nice wiring harness too which is the perfect length to reach your glovebox.

ive had mine for a little over a year ive had one of the led bars go out but customer service got me 2 new ones within the week, they have been getting moisture inside the housing on the old round ones but still work fine and a friend of mine with the same bumper has gotten new and updated leds that fit in it, other than that its held up so far.. dont had a winch yet so i can vouch for its strength.

Ive had the barricade trail force on my jeep for 14 months. rust rust rust
now i do live in cleveland so there is a lot of salt this time of year. a lot of the paint on the back side has peeled and the bare metal is rusted. im assuming this area is the worst because the tires spraying the salt/brine on it all winter. also rusts alot around the fog lights. good price bumper but id consider stripping and repainting before install if you live in an area that has bad winters.
just my .02

It must be the salt then. My barricade bumper is 15 months old. Live in Oregon. We don't use salt on the roads. Highway dept uses a eco friendly compound deicer. No rusting on my bumper. Still looks as good as the day I put it on.

Fog light issue

I purchased a Barricade Extreme HD Full Width Front Bumper and installed about a month ago. Easy install. Bumper seems strudy enough. Just installed a winch about 2 weeks ago. Very easy as well. One issue I have is that the bumper advertised being able to use the factory fog lights. They installed fairly easy and the included wiring harness extension was also nice. The issue is, first on 3 out of the 4 small nuts and bolts can be used in installing the lights. Second, the extreme angle of the lights put part of the beam in the oncoming traffics face. The lights only have a vertical adjustment and I have them maxed out. Anyone else experience the same?

I had a barricade bumper like that my 09 and it IMO the finish did not hold up to a NY winter. I pulled it off to install the barricade skid plate. along with the smartbar rebuild and motor rotation. I contacted the eBay store afterparketpros for advice on the finish and they said to sand it and respray. After second winter it looked worse than the first and I went and got a Smittybilt with the 5 year warranty on the finish. I am sure that in states that don't measure winter salt usage in tons per mile, it would probably last longer.
