Hey Mike,

I can't speak on the other brand, but our Q-Series winches are a great winch for the money. They have a low amp draw & faster line speed compared to most other winches in the same class. Most of us here run a Q series winch and are quite happy with them. If you ever have an issue outside of the warranty period we also offer parts individually as shown below:

Ours is also in stock and I can have it shipped out today for you if you like. If you PM me here with your full name/address/zip I can provide a quote for you and remove the winch surcharge.

Thanks!

Rick thanks for the response. I'm not ready to order today, but I will be ordering within the next couple days. I will definitely shoot you a PM when I'm ready if I decide to go Quadratec.

I bought a 11k synthetic winch from quadratec mostly because of the low drain on the Jeep. It has definitely got me out of some sticky situations. But when I did have a warranty problem their idea of a warranty was sending me the part for me to fix it. To date I have not pulled it apart because I don't build winches for a living and not sure I actually want to take it apart and complete break it. Right now it just occasionally doesn't go into free spool. Still works hence why I haven't taken It apart But considering switching g to a different brand.

Mike,

Thanks for the question! We have a lot of customer's who are very happy their Barricade Winches for the price. You'll find 20 customer submitted reviews and 15 customer submitted images on the site that might help you make your decision.

The 9,500 lbs is plenty of pulling power for a JK. The two-way automatic, in-the-drum braking system will hold your rig in place which makes trail repairs much safer. The winch has the standard footprint so it can be mounted on any standard winch ready bumper or winch plate, and comes with the control an fairlead so you have everything you need to install it in the box.

I don't have any fees or shipping to waive, but if you PM I'll make sure you get the best deal possible on the winch. You can be confident that we stand behind everything we sell and if something ever goes wrong with the winch, inside or outside of the warranty, we'll make it right. I'm always here to answer any questions you have, so don't hesitate to PM me!

Haha, this thread isn't a competition! I don't want to speak for Rick, but I want the OP to have the most complete information possible so he can make the best decision on how to spend his hard earned money.

Anyone who spends time on the forums knows that that is my M.O. and that I'm always here to answer questions or help out however I can!

WOW! I must say that I have never seen such excellent and overwhelmingly professional behavior by two vendors on the same thread... You both do your companies well (and like many of us here, I have bought from both).

Great JOB!

Might I ask why only those 2 winches are under consideration? Is it the price?

When it comes to winches, my thought process is that your best bet is to buy a winch from a company that specializes in making winches. The 2 companies you are looking at don't make winches. I know Quadratec has their winches sourced to their specs from one of the better winch makers in China, but winches are not Quadratecs main focus.

There are 4 main players in the winch industry. Warn, Mile Marker, Superwinch, and Ramsey. All they do are make winches. Some are made in USA but all of them have a Chinese line as well (actually I'm not sure if Ramsey does). You can actually get one of these winches for a similar price if you shop around for the best deal. I purchased a Mile Marker SEC 8 (ES) which is their IP68 waterproof winch line, 8k pulling power (more than enough for a 2 door JK) for $359 shipped last month.

Bottom line to me, is that if you need to purchase a winch, then you need to make sure it will work when you need it to, repeatedly. While you don't have to buy a US made winch to get that peace of mind, you should buy one from a company with a long standing reputation for quality.

Budget was an issue, but these both seemed to get reviews that were just as good as any "high dollar" winch as well, so I couldn't justify spending multiples of the cost on what my opinion is a name.

So the conclusion is I went with Quadratec simply because it was in stock. Ryan from XT couldn't confirm when the Barricade would be in stock, so I had to pass.

That being said, I got awesome customer service
from both companies in the public posts as well as the private messages.

In the end I made a purchase through Extreme Terrain as well, so everyone is happy... especially me with my new toys

It definitely sound like the guy with the pile of new parts wins! There is nothing better.

Thank you very much for the order and the business. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you in the future!

we run the Q on both jeeps, tj rubi 9000lbs synthetic and JKU rubi 11500 lbs. synthetic haven't had a problem yet. Q customer service is second to non in my book. they will require you to put their logo on your a$$ after you purchase a certain amount though. that is my only complaint, their logo is on everything and everywhere. but i keep buying so i guess its not that big a deal
