Barricade Tubular Fenders

I know they were just released a little bit ago but does anyone have any experience or opinion with the new Barricade tube fenders from Extreme Terrain?

They come with rubber seals (plus), are bolt on and require no drilling (plus), and are reasonably priced (plus).

My concerns are powder coating quality (maybe someone who has other barricade products could chime in on that, I would assume they use the same powder coating process across there product line). And build quality.

Thoughts?

Yeah I also noticed no fender light but that's the case with a few different fenders and there are ways to get creative with LEDs to solve that issue. Guess I never thought about the 2 Dr vs 4 Dr thing but your right I did know that bushwhacker has different sets for each.

Good to hear the barricade powder coating is holding up gold for people.

Not sure I'm quite ready to buy yet just doing some research. I saw ace is redesigning there fenders I'm curious how they will look as they should be at a similar price point as these.

Maybe someone will install and review these for us :) come on wf haha

My only concern is what happens when you kiss a tree on the trail. I just kissed one with my stock fender flare and it cost me 10 bucks to replace clips. No visible damage to the fender itself and no body damage to my sheet metal.

I am thinking the metal bolted in is a bit unforgiving. Now if you don't wheel and stay on the street I think they are great. Just my opinion. Ryan is a good guy and I am not trashing the product, just questioning based on my poor driving at times. Ask him about them.

Yeah that's a legitimate concern and one that has been brought up with fender flares before. Some claim they have brushed trees and rocks with various fenders and had no issues, some fender companies (poison spyder, nemesis, river raider, and maybe metalcloak) offer inner braces that support the weak body panels in the event of an impact. I'm figuring for moderate wheeling/daily driving something like these should do just fine, I would have to guess it would depend on the angle and how hard u hit a tree/rock. Scraping against... Not sure that would do a whole lot of damage. Sliding down a side hill and into one could crush the body fender, but then again it could do that with the stock fenders, all depends.

I wonder if the inner frame bracing of one of those other companies could be added to these fenders that would still save money over buying there's but would be more durable.

Or maybe barricade could design some and offer inner braces for these fenders as an option that would be sweet, maybe I will bring it up to Ryan. I have dealt with him before and he is fantastic!!

I love the look of those fenders! I think they'll hold up really well for you. You can always pull them off and bed line/powder coat/paint them IF there were to start rusting on you.

A lot of people have the same argument about light guards transferring a hit to the body instead of absorbing the collision. I guess it depends on how and where you wheel, and your stance on the issue.

I'd like to send you out a set to try if you're willing to provide some pictures and an honest review to your fellow forum members. PM me if you want to take me up on it!

Good call, them being direct bolt on would make it easy to pull them off and respray them with some bedliner in the event something happened or they needed touched up. I would expect these/rock rails to take the most abuse of stones and things so I wouldn't get too upset if some chips showed up its undoubtedly going to happen with any poweder coated fenders. Just the nature of the beast.

Also PM sent just another reason XT is awesome!!

When I square up with Ryan and do a review I will be sure to add measurements vs stock in the review.

Just to update for those who are waiting for the review, I got the front fenders and had a few fitment issues so Ryan is looking into it and seeing if we can get things worked out.

Subscribed! Interested to see how these work out, I'm in the market for fenders and I was impressed with the barricade bumpers and rock rails. Tried smittybilt fenders and didn't like them but I'm not willing to drop $1200 on poison spyder flares. IMO Extreme terrain is the best company to deal with when it comes to fitment issues I found.

Fitment was poor and I was unable to get them on. Here is what I noticed, the face of the fenders that bolts to the jeep body is perfectly flat (I laid them on the garage floor and they laid flat). However, the body of the jeep is not flat if you look it tapers down at the bottom and in the front. Therefore, when I put the bolts in at the top there was about a half inch to inch gap at the bottom and around the back of the fender. I contacted Ryan and told him about my issue, he said he was going to fit some up on the shop jeep and see if they had fitment issues with them as well. I have yet to hear back from him on this. The holiday season did roll around all at the same time so I understand its a busy time of year for everyone. It may just prove to be that I got a bad set who knows. I however, was not able to get mine to fit up.

If I put all the bolts in and started tightening them all down it may have worked, however, I was not willing to do that to my jeep body, I was too worried that it would pop my body out or crease it, an inch is a long way to stretch for metal.

I have yet to hear back from Ryan, I did just email him again to see if they ever tried to fit them up on the shop Jeep so hopefully he gets back to me on that.

As far as the fenders go, I would look else where, there seem to be some good options out on the market for not that much more than these. Kinda pointless to pay for a part for your jeep that doesn't fit. I would have been disappointed if I would have spent money on these fenders. The fit was bad enough I couldn't get them on, there were no instructions with the product, and I have had issues getting info back from XT (although I have dealt with them before and they have always been fantastic so I feel like this is an anomaly and would not hesitate to do business with them in the future) and the finish had some scratches on it and some bubbles in places. The lines did look good, and the welds were nice and seemed pretty clean, it also came with stainless hard wear and a rubber strip to go across the back (although with no instructions I'm not really sure where it goes, I looked up instructions to other fenders to figured it out). With a little bit of quality control to fix the fitment issues these could be a promising product but as of right now I would look elsewhere.

If anyone has any questions please let me know and I will update this thread as I get info.

I'm sorry that we didn't get back to you on the fenders! The set we sent you didn't fit, that's for sure. What I've been trying to determine is if there is a larger problem or if it was a one time issue. All signs point to this being a one time anomaly. Since these are still a relatively new part we still don't have the details install instructions we like to have, but we're working on those as well!

I'll let you know when we have all the test fitting done and I'll get you a test that fits for well if you're still interested.
How do you design a JK specific product that doesnt actually fit? I've always been hesitant of buying any Barricade product. Who are they? Their website doesn't even give their location or even a phone number.
As I posted above, the more I look into this the more it looks like it was a one time issue with those flares not fitting. Barricade sells their parts exclusively through us and makes affordable and strong armor products. I'd be happy to answer any other questions about them or us that you have!

Folks on this forum and others seem to have good luck with the barricade front bumpers, but I would think they are a little easier to fabricate than fenders. I'm not trying to knock Barricade or Extreme Terrain at all, there the one's who gave me a chance to try these out, I tried them and... they didn't work out im not upset, if I would have paid for them I would be.

I cant speak for Barricade but what it looks like to me is they took some measurements, and someone is now laying these on a table and welding them up in a shop somewhere. If you look at poison spyder or nemesis, and other out there, they use the CAD figures from jeep to sculpt their fenders. Seems like could be the difference.

Just saw Ryans post ^^^ Thanks for stopping in and updating Ryan, sounds like it could be just the set I got, do you have pictures of you fitting them up on your shop jeep? Maybe close ups of how the fenders fit? A pic of someone holding them up against the jeep (not Bolted on yet) to see if there are any gaps? That would be super helpful. Thanks.

Powder coating is pretty good about what you would expect for the price range, had a few bubbles on the bottom, but other than that they have a nice texture and seems like a good coating, to help put the coating into perspective it is much better than the coating on my ace sliders (which i had to redo) and not nearly as nice as the coating on my LOD bumper. Somewhere is the middle which IMO is good for the price.

Yeah I'll post them up give me a little time there on my pops camera.

Looking forward to the progression of this thread!

Ryan, if you need another test mule for these I would be more than happy to mount them up and give you a solid review. Your customer service that is evident all over this forum is pretty phenomenal!

Like I said there were a few blemishes in the finish but some of those could have been from UPS as well. Overall the powder coating is pretty good, its just the fit I had issues with, Ryan is working on getting some fitted up on the shop jeep so hopefully that goes well. You can see from the pictures that the edges are pretty far from the sheet metal, these could possibly be bent down or pulled in but where i had the biggest issue was around the bend at the top of the fender its much more difficult to pull metal together where its bent like that. If you have any questions about the pictures please let me know.

Thanks
