Bed lining rocker panels

I've ordered a gallon of monstaliner and have heard that many have left over after doing to tub of a 2 dr. I'm also looking to buy some rocker gaurds (either poison spyder or smittybilt) and rather then spending the $150-200 for the above brands, has anyone experimented with trying to get the same look with bed liner? I've seen many do the lower rocker panel but have yet to find and pictures with the underneaths of the doors painted. Below is a picture of the smittybilt body cladding so you know what I'm talking about!

I don't think you could get it to look the same. I think it'd end up just looking like you bedlined the side. Those rocker guards won't sit flush with the paint and are held on by rivets so it'd look a little different
