Beginning my JKU search today. Could use some help.

Sold my old truck so now the fun begins. I have already sent an email to Koons but I also want to check with a few local dealers and a handful in some larger cities within driving distance.
So, I know this is more of a general question but do I just go to all the individual sites and email blast them? I've always been told to talk with the "internet" dept. but on the few I've checked I don't see a specific dept. listed.
On Jeeps site (after you build it) there's a "Get A Quote" option. Is that what I want?

Just looking for some guidance as I start this process.

Thanks

Here's what I did- assuming you're looking for new. Build your dream jeep on the website. Make a list of option is HAS to have, what you'd LIKE, and what you don't want. Then jump on cars.com and use the advance search to filter down to your likes: trim level, colors, auto/manual, etc. When you find a shorter list, copy the VIN from the ad and paste onto the end of this link, it'll pull up the window sticker and you can see all the options on the jeep.

http://www.chrysler.com/hostd/window...kerPdf.do?vin=

I did all of that and found my dream jeep 50 miles away out in Culpepper. I called them and asked for their bottom dollar since I was from out of town and driving a ways. His quote was more than fair so I bought it.

The last thing you want is to spam a bunch of dealers unless you have a throw away email account set up. You'll never get off all their mailing lists.

Also, wranglers aren't like a Camry or Accord where you can bottom dollar one because there's millions on the lots. Jeep sells every wrangler made so you can't get much more than a couple thousand off MSRP. You can check edmunds to get true car value to see what others are paying.

I sent emails to for different dealers that we local-ish to me and I also sent one to Koons. I copied everything I wanted straight from the Build and Price site. Three of the local dealers got back to me and two of them hasn't even bothered to read the email. One asked if I wanted auto and that was item 3 on the list. Craig from Koons got back to me about midmorning on Monday. (I sent the email out Sunday night.) And he had everything exactly right, including the price. 4% under invoice with no hassle. The whole process was ridiculously easy.

Awesome. Koons is actually local to me, but I drove an hour out of town to get mine. I had a very specific list at the time which killed my options (had to be silver, auto, rubicon, 4.10, alpine, hard top). I ended up with nav that I didn't want, but oh well.

Not sure where the OP is located, so it's harder to help.

I'm in GA so Koons would be a bit of a drive (or flight there) but if local dealers or Atlanta, etc. can't come close then that's what I'll do.

Even my local dealer doesn't list an "internet" dept so if I email them I don't know who I'll get.

I'll check out cars.com but I know if I go on jeeps site and configure it, it also shows dealers with the exact matches.

I'd just really like to start off with a salesperson recommended somehow than just any old person but that might have to do.

Only one of the dealers around here listed an internet manager. I randomly picked a salesman from the website and emailed them, asking them to pass along my request if they were not the one that I needed. It worked for me. I'm less than 2 hours from Koons, so it was a no brainer for me. Hopefully someone local to you can chime in. Worst case scenario, you take Craig's offer to a local dealer and see how close they are willing to get. Figuring travel costs to Koons, you'd get about the same total cost with an offer of invoice or slightly below.

Make sure you work with Craig Benner at Koons. If you don't mind waiting 4-5 weeks for delivery, you get the same pricing on a factory order and get exactly what you want. Here's Craig's contact info:

One of the nice things about working with Craig is the volume they do at Koons. Two of the other dealers said they could put my order on their next allotment and I'd be looking at 8-10 weeks to delivery. Craig literally ordered it within 10 minutes of receiving my deposit and he is "hoping" for 4-5 weeks.

Yeah, we ordered ours at the beginning of this year and it was at Koons in less than four weeks.

Thanks. Like I said I alrady emailed Craig. Hoping to hear from him tomorrow. I just got a local sales guys name as a reference. I will email him as soon as I get Craigs exact numbers. Hoping he can match or come really close. There's also a few dealers in ATL that have really good prices online and if they'll come off a few $ from that then that's another option.

I don't mind getting one built though. I can wait a month or two if I have to.

Oh OK, I missed where you mentioned Craig. It was the easiest car buying experience I have ever had. There were no surprises or pressure. Even the finance guy wasn't too pushy.

I've talked with Craig via email today a few times. I got his price and trying to use that to see if some of the more local dealers can get close. I've emailed probably ~8 and only heard back from 2.
I can and will do business with Koons but I really want to see some other numbers first.

I planned to buy at Koons, but was too impatient to order. There was almost the exact Jeep I wanted at another dealer, but they wouldn't trade to Koons. I called the other dealer and told them if they matched the price I would buy. They wouldn't budge, so I thought it was done. A few days later at dinner, the guy from the other dealer calls and says if I still want the Jeep it's mine at my price. I got up from dinner and went to get it. I use the phone instead of emails. Knowing that I had the Koons price made negotiations easier. I called the dealer and said this is the price, take it or leave it. Worst case scenario, I order and wait. Good luck!

Yeah, nobody is matching them so far. I've done mostly emails but you would be surprised (or maybe not) the amount of them that don't answer the question. Just give me an out the door price! Is it so hard?

Yep, the wife and I have decided that when we decide to add a second Jeep, it will be through Koons. They make the average dealership look like a bunch of goons.

I think part of the problem might be that I am looking at a Big Bear. I might end up with a Sport S but with the options I want there is very little difference.

If I lived within easy driving distance to atlanta I might do better face to face but so far, none seem like they are eager to make a sale. One thing I've got going is I'm not in a rush.

I purchased from Craig/Koon's last month. I had been working with our local dealer and when I went in to see if they'd match Koon's quote the sales manager scared the pajeebers out of me. He asked what the 6% was? I said it's off invoice and he came up out of his chair, pushed the paper back at me and said you have to take this deal, now! It's a great deal, we can't match it. So DH and I left, came home and ordered with Craig. Local dealer said 6 to 8 weeks and she was delivered in 3. Although I had to wait 3 more LONG weeks after she was delivered because we had to wait until our VW diesel was bought back from VW (diesel cheat), Craig was very understanding with the special circumstance.
Overall A+ experience.

As I mentioned on a couple other threads, it's a 6 hour drive from Charlotte, NC so we rented a car one way, $135 with Budget and the return is at the Marriott a mile away, they do have an Enterprise at the dealership but Budget was $100 cheaper. We had been wanting to go to the Air and Space Museum's etc. so stayed a couple days. It was an awesome drive home!

Don't forget to request brochures on Jeep.com, I was lucky and received a $500 golden ticket!

Already registered on Jeep.com. Hopeful for a ticket.

Craig is definitely the "gold standard" and he's in the lead as of now. But I have to check with my local places and two other places today to see if they can come close.

One issue (not with Craig) is if I can get another dealer to match/beat my lowest, what can I get from them to guarantee the final price? Obviously I will get emails and quotes. But my fear is once the jeep is delivered they will try and finagle some numbers. Has anyone had to deal with something like this before?

Get a sales quote contract, signed by them. If they try to back off that price, sue for breach of contract. That's your only option for holding them to the price they give. If you order through a dealership, they and you have to sign the sales order contract, so you have that if you order.

I dealt with this when I bought a car about a decade ago - they tried to tack on cleaning and repairs fees on the car I was buying, and I said "So, where did I sign anything saying I'd pay for that?" - they dropped the fees and off I went with my 2-year-old vehicle with 17k on the clock at about half the original msrp

Glad you're still looking at Koons - it may be a long drive home but that's a small price to pay for thousands off the price tag.
